As Democrats consider whether to use the so-called nuclear option to rewrite the Senate’s filibuster rules, one issue in particular has some liberals worried: abortion.
Changing the rules to make it easier to confirm President Barack Obama’s executive branch or judicial appointments may help the White House in the short term…. But privately, that base and abortion rights supporters are concerned how a future GOP president and Senate could take advantage of the new setup.
One Democratic aide described abortion rights groups as “wary of using the nuclear option to lower the threshold to 50 votes for judges because they’re afraid of what it could mean for women’s health,” although no group would go on the record, citing sensitive congressional negotiations. And several Democratic senators agreed the future of abortion rights is one of the top concerns for the party in the fight over rules….
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has threatened to use the nuclear option to speed things up. Simply put, the Senate would vote by a simple majority to prohibit filibusters on certain types of nominations – bringing the threshold to 50 votes rather than the 60 needed to break a filibuster.

Planned Parenthood is just another form of the snake in the Garden of Eden.
What a lot of people don’t realize is, it’s not just Planned Parenthood. Most people one would think to be an informed, educated party in regard to the humanity of and nature of the unborn have a financial stake in denying reality for the same reason Planned Parenthood does. Abortion = money.
As on another thread, basic economics: any “service” provider wants to see the demand for their “service” increase. PP provides abortions, so their goal is to increase the demand for abortion. Promiscuity, cheap condoms, and statuatory rape increase demand, while abstinence, adoption, and stable families decrease demand. Sadly this explains PP’s stand on these issues.
Excellent Eric!
Can I quote you?
Thanks Carla, feel free to use any words as I credit the good Lord who gives me anything that is good.
Unwanted pregnancies are often called “inconveniences.” I’d like to ask how you respond to something that is indisputably an inconvenience — the telemarketing call.
The reason is my friend, after a lengthy period of unemployment, was offered his old job. He didn’t like the job because it is — yes, you guessed — telemarketing. He is taking it, at least until he can collect Social Security.
Meh, the same thing could be said for CPC’s and such.
“Reality” — if you mean that CPCs provide biased counseling, well, you’re probably correct. But at least their bias is to save lives, and there is no financial incentive behind it either!
Biased is one thing, misleading is another.
“Biased is one thing, misleading is another”
And outright mischaracterizations and lies are yet something else:
- “heart tones”
- “blob of tissue”
- “no, there’s no law against your 27 year old boyfriend getting you, a 15-year old pregnant”
