Just had an abortion? Here, take home a plant.
The succulent plants are growing in tiny hand-made planters made specially by a ceramic artist. The organization is neither pro-life nor pro-choice, but pro-compassion, offering gifts to women after abortion to show “love and empathy” not “shame and hate.”
Why plants? Because scientific research has shown a connection between plants and healing, and the women need to heal, body and soul.
To offer these suffering women a hand-made gift of life is surely compassionate, but it is a gift passed over in a fog of despair, symbolizing a crestfallen longing for a truth behind the appearances….
One woman wrote… “… even though one life may not be able to continue, you give the opportunity to bring one life home.”
These are muffled pleas for love.
~ Stacy Trasancos describing the work of Plants for Patients, a charitable organization that “hands out plants to abortion patients, succulents because they are ‘incredibly adaptable’ and ‘come in a vast array of colors and shapes’ like the women who experience abortion,” LifeNews, January 21

When I was a little kid my dentist would give little plastic toys if you were well behaved during the procedure. It must have worked to keep kids quiet because I collected a bunch of them.

It’s a nice gesture, but the women who don’t regret their abortions won’t care, and the women who do need actual counseling.

How ironic that these women are given a LIVING, GROWING thing after an abortion.

It’s still rather bizarre to me.
“We know you just had your child murdered by an abortionist, we take no stand on that either way, but you deserve some compassion……here’s a plant. “
whaaaaaaaattttt?
Dang. I demand a puppy!!!

Is that a picture of a RUBBER plant?
Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?

“We won’t help if you’re coerced, or abused, or in a bad situation that abortion won’t solve but here’s some effort spent on a plant.”

In the face of so much useless killing, corporate murder, hopelessness and abuse, unprotected by our own government…. there is in overflowing need to do something to help.
Even if it is something symbolically strange and stupid.
How about a little pamphlet for a pro-life care center or post-abortion counseling, attached to the pretty plant?

Perhaps a medicinal herb like a nice Pennyroyal plant would be a good selection for the home abortion memorial garden.
According to Nirvana Pennyroyal makes a fine tea. They wrote a song about it on their album “In Utero” along with other hits like “I Hate Myself and Want to Die”.
Sweet gifts of glory.

Love is a rose, but you better not pick it,
Only grows when its on the vine,
Handfull of thorns and you know you missed it,
Lose your love when you say the word ‘mine’.
[As in bodily autonomy and my body, my choice.
.
An appropriate plant for the lobby of the abortuary would be a ‘Venus Fly Trap’.

This is just heartbreaking. And weird.
For one thing, it’s a response to the fact that women need healing “emotionally” after an abortion. They’re just soooo close. But still a mile away. Gads.
Also, this just cheapens human life. They literally say you are not taking one life home (baby!!!) but here’s another one in exchange. So… A baby’s life = a plant’s life?? Will they be passing these out at funeral homes as well? Sorry bout your dad, here’s a fern! Happy planting! Ugh. makes me sick.
Though I will say “Plants for Patients” could be totally awesome if they went and passed out these plants to patients in hospitals to brighten up rooms, especially children’s hospitals. It’s a good idea. Just not for abortion patients. :(

These women already had a hand-made gift of life … They chose to kill it. Poor plants.
I don’t know what the second half means – REALLY means. “Blah blah floofy fluff blah blah.”

I’m a dude, never had an abortion obviously. And like LifeJoy says, who knows what they were trying to say. Yet the plant is their feeble attempt to try to bring some comfort to the poor soul which has just been duped into killing her child. Others are hardened, they have no remorse. They just go on about their week.
“a fog of despair, symbolizing a crestfallen longing for a truth behind the appearances”
I think she’s talking about the guilt and depression that settles in subconsciously. Kind of like the pregnant abortionist who while killing an unborn child of the same gestational age as the child she was carrying broke into tears. She knew she just killed a child. Her heart knew the truth bypassing her conscious mind. This was in spite of the lies she conditioned herself to believe.
I think I remember hearing Carla share that after she had been tricked, afterward, her heart knew. It’s so sad that the realization comes just moments too late to spare these moms from a deep emotional wound.
Suddenly it’s gotten pretty misty in here. Is someone chopping an onion? My heart really aches for these women…

I’m not sure if this is more compassionate or cruel. Like “we know you just killed your child, so here’s a nice pot plant for you”. WHAT? How’s that supposed to make things better?

I agree Vita. For the women who regret their abortions, it might just become a sad reminder. Nice planters though. I hope they have drainage holes, though succulents don’t need much water.

I don’t know either Vita. They’re blind. They know this person just killed their child and know they’re hurting but they’re so filled with lies and propaganda they can’t connect the dots. They’re left with “fog, despair and appearances” and confusion and disillusionment reign.
And satan cackles

Isn’t it also puzzling that the pot master chose pastels in the pot pictured? Perfect for the nursery!
The only two house plants I’ve ever kept alive were received when two of my favorite people went to heaven. The plants are special, so I actually water them. Now if I had had my dad and my grandma terminated, it might be awkward.
Finally, I just don’t know. Quite an effort here for something about which they are supposedly neutral, or maybe it’s more like ambivalence if they are being honest with themselves. Work your way through that ambivalence, folks, and make some lovely potted plants for PRCs or PAS groups.

Yanno nothing in the abortion industry is free. Do they factor a in a few extra bucks for the plant? I imagine most people will become ill over time and throw the plant in the garbage. Especially those who begin learning the truth of what theyve done. Eh the day I killed my baby. *Crack*…hits the garbage can.

Ive told this one before…..my pastor was sidewalk counseling and a woman was walking into the clinic. She cursed him had her abortion and left. 2 weeks later she approached him and said ” I should have listened to you. I miss my baby already.”

Thankfully Martin Ruddock left Ohio but he is now working in Michigan.

Is it just me or would this “charitable gesture” only reinforce that human life is not valuable, or not as valuable as a plant? True that some women won’t regret their abortions but this totally missess the mark on how to address any post-abortive woman.
And I also agree with Carla – puppy is a much better alternative but better yet maybe there needs to be an organization that offers these women more than that.

This give “Go Green” a whole new meaning.

Misses the mark entirely.
And there are quite a few organization that are ready and waiting to offer healing after abortion.

Kinda like Miley Cyris.
Maybe they should offer the plant where women buy pregnancy tests. They could add a note to the plant that says, “If women are bright enough to keep plants alive, we surely are smart enough to keep out children alive. Don’t buckle to the haters.”

I think it is interesting that they seem to be acknowledging that an abortion is a LOSS, a PAINFUL experience, something that requires compassion and empathy. This is a far cry from the radical abortion advocates over in San Francisco who have objected to the Walk for Life West Coast talking about how abortion HURTS women.
The facebook page makes it sound like the people who run this group are pro-choice, so I do think that it is telling that they seem to be acknowledging that abortion kills a life and that it is not something to be happy about, or just “no big deal”.

I just think she’s hilarious. She’s all “I’m like the best feminist ever! I do what I want” and all the feminists get really offended. It cracks me up.
