New CNN poll: Most Americans don’t like or want to pay for abortion
A new CNN poll has found that more than half of Americans believe abortion should be restricted, and a majority of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortions.
According to CNN, 27% of those surveyed said abortion should be legal in all circumstances, while 13% said the practice should be legal in most circumstances. However, 38% of those polled said abortion should be legal in few circumstances and 20% said it should always be illegal, leaving a total of 58% who said abortion should be restricted to few situations or always illegal.
Most Americans have never supported taxpayer funding of abortion and, according to this survey, 56% remain opposed and only 39% favor taxpayer funding of the practice of abortion.

I dont want to pay for anyones abortion!
Bill & Melinda Gates and Warren Buffett should have more than enough money to fund abortion and sterilization for those who can’t afford it. Wealthy, white eugenicists are always happy to help the poor minorities by encouraging them to keep their numbers “in check.”
Kel what a great idea! Let all of the liberal stars pay for them! Blythe Danner Gwenneth Paltrow Susan Sarandon John Mellencamp Bon Jovi Kathy Najimy Jenn Aniston and so on.
Kel, I could never understand why the ruling class is so concerned about poor people’s fertility, especially poor people of color. Like I said, increase educational and social opportunities for women and the birth rate usually decreases. Oh btw happy International Women’s Day!
Why do we then keep voting for (extremist) pro-abortion politicans?????
Hi phillymiss Forget not that with all of the $ the celebs make they are still aborting their own children. When I was younger I remember abortion was generally an issue where some friends aborted because they didnt have the $ to raise the kids or the men took off and wanted no part of them. What is the excuse of the elite? Madonna Cher Kathy Najimy Heather Tom Whoopie Goldberg Susan Sarandon have all had abortions. What in the world is their excuse? Madonna has had multiple abortions. She admitted to 11 at least. She aborted from Sean Penn 3 times yet begged Dennis Rodman to get her pregnant. He tried but it never did happen. Its obviously a matter of pick and choose.
Madonna admitted she will always carry a torch for Penn whom she says was ” the absolute love of my life”… um yeah you had a mighty funny way of showing it. Madonna also does not feel remorse over her abortions.
Lucky that the above mentioned women who had abortions didn’t go to Dr. Gosnell or Dr. Carhart. They might’ve not got pregnant again. Or, in the case of Mrs. Mongar (and others) might not have survived the surgery. Check out Dr. Gosnell’s “Lancaster” documentary. A women at his clinic went 8 times for abortion. I don’t think she, or the other women interviewed can have children now. Sad.
or, 78% said abortion should not be completely illegal.
There are a number of things I don’t appreciate my tax dollars supporting. But that’s how society works.
“Why do we then keep voting for (extremist) pro-abortion politicans?????”
Probably because the average voter has no idea what the abortion position of their candidate is.
It simply isn’t a high priority in most peoples decision making.
I should also add that most people base their voting decisions primarily on issues other than abortion.
“There are a number of things I don’t appreciate my tax dollars supporting. But that’s how society works.”
What a dishonest statement you made “reality.” How does society work? It is established by society that tax dollars are to support abortion or is it driven by special interest groups who have politicians in their pockets? Or is it a political ideology of the democrats?
Society has nothing to do with citizens paying for abortions.. PP/Obama and the democratic party are to blame. Your shifting responsibility to a societal level is yet another one of your attempts to insult our intelligence and protect PP..
How does society work? – you’re how old and been in the US how long and you’re still asking this?
It’s established by society through its representatives in the government. Abortion would be far from the only topic which is driven by special interest groups.
No it is not a political ideology of the democrats. There have been more than a few republican administrations and guess what didn’t happen.
If society has nothing to do with citizens paying for abortions then it has nothing to do with paying for a number of other things now does it.
PP/obama and the democratic party are to blame? You mean no tax dollars went towards abortion before before obama came along? None went to abortion in the periods when the republican party was at the helm? Well go..o..o..lly!
I’m not the one insulting your intelligence “thomas r.”
“No it is not a political ideology of the democrats. There have been more than a few republican administrations and guess what didn’t happen.”
It would take a total overhaul of the SCOTUS I grant you that and of course with that would come the overturning of RvW.
We may not get there anytime soon but Pro-life is for certain changing the minds and hearts of average citizens. We are closer to our ultimate goal than you give us credit for….
Dream on sunshine, abortion is a permanent part of society, legal or not.
When people realise just what they will lose if abortion becomes too difficult to access, the anti-choice propaganda campaign will sink.
The people lose:
women: humanity, dignity, self-respect and their offspring?
men: the ultimate power and control over women?
Did I cover the basics for you…..
Yep that’s the basics, that’s what people lose when womens fertility and reproduction is in the hands of the anti-choicers.
