New Stanek poll: Does Emily Letts’ abortion video help or hurt the pro-choice movement?
I have a new poll question up:
Do you think Emily Letts’ “abortion video” helps or hurts the pro-choice movement?
Vote on the lower right side of the home page.
Regarding the last poll, the middle top vote getter would seemingly fall into the category, “Which of these things is not like the others?” don’t you think?
Congrats to Senator Rick Santorum for winning our straw poll!
As always, make comments to either the previous or current poll here, not on the poll site.
Imo she hurt the cause! Im glad it all backfired on her! This is a pretty good win for our side when even the borts turn on you.

Heather, I agree. I hope she keeps talking . . . talking . . . and talking!

I watched the CNN video interview – wow was that painful – intellectually, she’s trying to make a case that isn’t there to make.

Definitely hurts. If half the country considers itself to be pro-life (presumably because they think abortion is unjust killing in most cases) and a good deal more agree that abortion is at least morally criticizable, “I did it and it was the best decision I ever made” or even “a third of women do it, and most of them never regret it” are not going to be compelling arguments. They’ve been trying to normalize abortion since Ms. Magazine came out in the 1970s, and there have been countless other campaigns to do the same thing (imnotsorry.net, thanksabortion.com, that “Good women have abortions” meme, and “My abortion. My life” are some recent ones).
Interesting read here. Evidently, most pro-choice people still see something wrong with a woman essentially getting pregnant on purpose and aborting as part of a publicity stunt to glorify abortion, even if they’re not yet on the same page as we are.

I think it’s pretty obvious that this hurts their cause, although the effect in the long run will be near zero as it will be forgotten about eventually. Right from the beginning, she has treated abortion trivially, which is certainly not the message they want to send out. Also, she has consistently looked like an idiot in interviews and whatnot and no movement wants to be represented by an idiot.

NOTHING will ever “help” the abortion industry.
Their ship is sinking and they know it. Which is why they are getting desperate and I almost feel sorry for them.
Nope. I don’t. Not a bit.

The pastor spoke about this video in church today.

Scary that this “lady” did this stunt for political gain. I wonder if she would’ve done this at Dr. Gosnell’s clinic? This reminds me of some of the actions prior to 1861 and the American Civil War to free the slaves and keep the Union. Lots of people believed, then, that people should be slaves and even died to keep the right to keep another person in chains. The only difference here is the baby didn’t get a chance at life. The slaves were alive even though life was horrible. In a way I hope this was all fake. I doubt it though.

Lot’s of people think the whole thing is fake.

The abortion culture is an infection that grows in the dark and silence. Ardent pro-borts know this. That is why PP and NARAL have never done a slick video like Letts hoped to accomplish.
Our job is to keep the conversation alive. We are glad when pro-borts try to tell “their side of the story.”

9ek…Im beginning to think its fake. She was probably never pregnant. She does in fact list herself as an actress though. But wow has she been gettin quite the whipping from both sides!

A friend told me that any medical professional would NEVER allow a video camera during a procedure especially an abortionist!!
Waiting for the truth Emily Letts.

That’s not true, they videotape surgeries often for educational purposes or even reality shows. It probably involves a lot of paperwork though, HIPAA laws are pretty strict and the patient has to wave all that.
I really hope this was just a publicity stunt and that no baby was harmed.

Yes Deluded indeed if you surf you tube you can watch an abortion. There are 2 The Choice Blues and Eclipse Of Reason. Its also my understanding about how pro lifers can get the graphic abortion images from clinics so that we may use them to educate. With Letts though its a tough call. Anyone could lay on a table and a suction machine could be turned on. Her calm face isnt proof enough for me. Shes also listing herself as an actress so lets hope thats all it is.

Her immediate reaction was one that both repulsed and frightened me. What a horribly creepy way to react to the death of your child!

Right Julie. Getting pregnant on purpose just to turn around and murder someone? Idky i cant access the video but at least im reading on other sites that she is getting backlash from her own side. Of course she will get support but its generally from women trapped in their own guilt from their own murders.

A classic case of “be careful what you wish for”.
The PAs wanted “abortion on demand”, they got it. So dispense with the sanctimonious chest pounding and whining and let this little attention whore, like that British streetwalker, enjoy her 15 minutes of fame. Why is she any different than the celebrities who proudly announced their abortions or that has-been Gloria Steinem wearing her “I Had An Abortion” tee-shirt?

I watched this video and my heart sank. My initial reaction was for her soul and the obvious deception she is under. Whether it was an actual abortion or not (I do not think it was)the emotional and spiritual price of her video may not come due for years to come.
Her video was just a homespun version of 1 In 3, “Good Women Have Abortions” and other slick marketing campaigns by the abortion industry. They know they have lost the moral/scientific argument, but feel they have won the “rights” argument, the “choice” argument and yet they still feel a need to market that abortion is a rite of passage a “feel good moment” or everybody is doing it typified by the 1 in 3 campaign.
Why? The country is skewing more pro-life regardless if they are doing anything about acting on their beliefs. The number of abortionist entering the industry are falling as the number of abortion facilities fall as well.
My wife and I are post-abortive and we’ve been ministering in this field for an number of years and we have found there is almost always a time lag (between 9 – 10 years) before a woman even recognizes the need for post-abortion forgiveness, healing, repentance and closure.
We’ve had ardent abortion supporters in our small groups and at the end of our sessions they are often devastated that they have been deceived by the “choice” marketers and have paid a high price for thinking there was nothing wrong to pay someone to kill their child.
So we must pray for the Emily Lett’s that are out there that they come to their senses and get the help they need even as the abortion industrial complex is pressed from all sides, in various ways, by different organizations.
It’s unfortunate that Letts chose to use a social media “selfie” moment to deceiving many by leaving out one character in her cyber video- the remains of her unborn child.
