Ashley Judd: Wolf crying wolf
UPDATE, 2:30p: On The View this week it was fine for Whoopie Goldberg to bring up Ashley Judd’s disengenuous ad blasting Sarah Palin for supporting predatory wolf thinning. But it was not fine for Elizabeth Hasselbeck to query why someone like Judd could then be so pro-abortion. Not sure where Elizabeth got her abortion figures but appreciate the comparison…
_______________
By now you’ve seen the ad…
Michelle Malkin points out in her column today all the misleading contentions in the ad and adds this…
On a deadly serious note, [Ashley] Judd’s selective concern for savagery is not lost on longtime observers of the activist entertainer’s political forays. A militant, pro-choice feminist, Judd lashed out at the Republican ticket during the campaign: “[A] woman voting for McCain and Palin is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.” Yet, not a peep has been heard from Judd about the serial predators of Planned Parenthood who have been caught on tape urging young girls to cover up statutory rape to facilitate abortion procedures. And she won’t be starring in any YouTube ads decrying grisly late-term abortion procedures.
In a starlet’s world, “senseless savagery” only applies to the poster pet of the month.
But pro-abort Judd does worse than say nothing against abortion predators, she breathlessly supports the industry.
DC Examiner reported on Judd’s appearance January 24 at NARAL’s 40th anniversary luncheon:
After flubbing a few lines, Judd, who emceed the event, stopped and said, “I need to take a breath. I get so excited.”
Judd was also spotted at PP’s Sex, Politics & Cocktails party during the Democrat National Convention.
Photo left is of Judd and KS Gov. Kathleen Sebelius at PP’s Sex party.
You know Sebelius, the one who provides consistent legal cover for late-term abortionist George Tiller, even hosting a party for him at the mansion.
In fact, it appears Judd hosted that event, according to The Guardian:
Ashley Judd was another celebrity who didn’t mind getting political.
Partygoers at her Planned Parenthood bash took home condoms printed with a message: Protect Yourself From John McCain.
Yeah, I got some of those.
Judd is also a generous (eyes rolling) contributor to PP. According to its 2005-06 annual report:
![]()
I’m sure the recipes were politically correct vegetarian. Judd is fine with hacking up baby humans, just not animals.

You’d think Ashley would THANK her MOTHER for her existence…….
Those recipes would have to be Vegan to be politically correct!
Y’all be sweet to Ashley. She has to stand up for something, now that she has no more real standing in the entertainment arena. Her husband is more internationally famous than she is…that is bound to tick off her feministic soul on a very deep and “profound” (as if) level!!
Show her some compassion already. ;)
I am trying to think of something nice to say about Ashley right now…let’s see…oh, I’ve got it!
“Ashley’s mother is a lovely, Christian, pro-life woman. I am thankful that Ashley’s mother chose life for her children.”
We should oppose the killing of born humans, unborn humans and animals.
We should respect the rights of all living beings.
Can someone explain to me how accurate the commercial is? Does Palin really support this as it is described in the commercial and is there a reason why she supports it? Thanks.
Two points:
#1 I learned spending time out west in beautiful Wyoming and Idaho that we city folk from “back East” or even the Left Coast cannot judge the rancher, hunter, logger or commercial fisherman without actually having to walk in his boots, live in his environment and support a family on his income. Wolves and bears mean something different when they are taking the young of your herd. In Alaska it may have something to do with native people’s hunting rights and NEEDS.
#2 There is a rhetorical device named “false dilemma” which I hear too often from the mouths of pro-life folks. “How can you be concerned that those puppies were thrown into the trash can to freeze to death when babies are dying from abortion?” BECAUSE I CAN! I am human, I am women, I can multi-task. When suffering of any innocent living creature is put in your path, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Love is not a zero sum game. It is like that old Jay Leno Dorito’s commercial: use up your love and God will make more.
Completely agree with Joe. I just find it odd that someone can be so passionately pro-life yet so cavalier about murdering other living things. Is the issue controlling the population of the wolves? Even if so, I wonder if there’s a way that’s more humane, and less “sport”
AM,
“Is the issue controlling the population of the wolves? Even if so, I wonder if there’s a way that’s more humane, and less “sport””
Yeah, this is my question. Although I do believe it is morally permissible to kill animals under certain conditions, the commercial does make it seem like it goes too far.
Okay, I live in rural Alaska. About 250 miles NE of Fairbanks, Alaska to be exact; we DO have a wolf predator problem in our area. Also on some of the islands around Alaska wolves have been pleaced there and have over bred themselves. While I love wolves, we have a wolf/malamute mixed dog, I also know that a lot of us hunt and fish for our food because of the food prices in the bush of Alaska. Palin doesn’t want to kill all of them but we need some help where they have overpopulated themselves.
When wolves overpopluate themselves in the area we as people are highly in danger of them. The more wolves means less prey to them and to the people. The less prey means they’re getting hungry and will come into the villages/towns here in the bush. This poses a very high danger of pets, livestock, children, adults, the elderly (well you get the point) of them becoming stalked and hurt by them.
Ashley needs to come live in my comunity for 12 months and tell me that it would be mean to do this. Have her live off the land! If you want more info on the subject please checkout Fairbanks local newpaper http://www.newsminer.com
I forgot to add that it is not a sport of killing the wolves. It will not be done on a daily basis. The pack reduction will be done by the Alaska Fish & Game under close watch by their superiors.
They will be monitoring the packs and the problems with the packs in different regions of the state. One region may have a HUGE issue with them while others may not. You cannot just relocate some of the pack to another pack, the other pack will kill them. We’ve tried it before and it doesn’t work.
Alaska doens’t have a low number of wolves like the lower 48 does.
Excellent! That’s very helpful, Krystal. Thanks for the info. God love you.
I did a post on Ashley and her absolute stupidity of WHY the fluffy fuzzy wolves in Alaska need to get DOWN in population. There’s LOTS up there and they NEED to be kept in check.
But never being in Alaska – Judd is CLUELESS!
The trouble with libs is they don’t know what they are talking about and they use Sarah’s name to get more hits on their website.
They don’t have a prob with aborting babies – cause that’s a choice –
BUT they have a problem with killing VICIOUS hungry WOLVES!
I like your title!
Thanks for the info Krystal … I lived 150 miles north of Fbks in Ft. Yukon – wow you’re further north than that.
God bless you and watch your back … :)
i saw this ad on the view yesterday. i just want to say how proud i am that Elisabeth asked (paraphrasing) how come Ashley is so upset about a few wolves being killed when there are many more babies being killed? of course, she was shot down and everyone thought she was nuts for comparing babies to wolves. they did not get the connection at all. Ashley Judd used to be one of my favorite actress, i even style my hair after hers, but after all this crap that i have found out about her the past few days i will be finding a new hairstyle!
Thank you Krystal!! Good to know.
Go Elizabeth Hasselbeck!!
Typical Hollywood liberal. Just like 95% of them. Must be distressing to her Mom who has totally different beliefs.
I’ll never know how Elizabeth Hasselbeck can stand being on The View. Whoopie at least is polite to her most of the time, but those other ladies are soooo annoying and cut her off most of the time.
You really need a better voice on the View than Elizabeth Hasselback. ……….
Maybe Ashely would be on board with this whole issue if they changed the method of killing the wolves to oh say……trapping them by the leg, (just as an abortionist would do when grabbing a babies foot to pull it out of the birth canal)
then while the wolve is writing around, they stab it in the back of the head and suction the brains out.
Just a thought. I might just post this idea on their website.
And what’s Elizabeth doing wearing that shirt? She’s no pirate! (Nowhere near smart enough (!) and I bet she can’t hold her rum).
No problem everyone. As a devoted Alaskan I always want to educate people in the lower 48 how life REALLY is up here as opposed to the media/hollywood image.
I actully don’t even live in a village, I live more off the land than most do. My husband works for the state of Alaska. We pretty much do research out here on the Yukon River. Bevy, we’re usually in Fort Yukon, Circle & Central almost everyother day using the phone and ordering from the bush pilots for supplies and food. We raise three boys out here in the bush and for the most part Alaskan’s are very pro-life. But we do have a number of people converting over to pro-abortion lately. I’m not sure why….
Planned Parenthood in Fairbanks is sickening though. My doctors office is right next to it and when we’re in town for medical care I see clearly pregnant women going in there and aborting. PP usually likes to target the Native women here though because the state funds a lot of the abortions around here.
Ah….I don’t know when this will end but Alaska is getting a bad rep from the media. Not all of us are 6 pack drinking, pot smoking, lazy, ciggerete chimney, kill anything that walks kind of people.
I encourage all of you to visit one day when this economy gets better. Interior Alaska has some of the best people in the world and when you visit we always treat you like family.
“You really need a better voice on the View than Elizabeth Hasselback. ……….”
I vote for Jill!
“Planned Parenthood in Fairbanks is sickening though. My doctors office is right next to it and when we’re in town for medical care I see clearly pregnant women going in there and aborting.”
They must have big windows if you’re seeing all that. Maybe ask them to close the drapes?
I oppose killing wolves for wildlife management because it is cruel, unneccessary and hey, unnatural. No excuse for it.
I think you need to think long and hard before disrupting natural systems. I am a back to nature freak.
Also, some say late term abortions are rare, only in thousands per year versus more than a million perform at earlier gestational age.
However far more children die from cruel late term abortion than wolves die from the stupid and cruel hunting.
Those of us who have been supporting those working to protect wolves for years and years notice that not only did Ms. Judd never care about wolves till she had the opportunity to slam Palin, but her idiotic commercial will stiffen resistance to the campaign against hunting wolves.
Wolf hunting rules are local, not national.
Plenty of Alaskans who could care less about wolf hunting will now support it because she has tied it to Palin whom they like.
PP usually likes to target the Native women here though because the state funds a lot of the abortions around here.
Posted by: Krystal at February 6, 2009 3:34 PM
Of course PP targets native women. They target all minorites for reduction.
Krystal, what is the word “up there” in Alaska on Palin these days? Does she still have a favorable rating?
And has anyone even seen that Tripp Palin yet?
PP usually likes to target the Native women here though because the state funds a lot of the abortions around here.
Posted by: Krystal at February 6, 2009 3:34 PM
They “target” them? It sounds to me more like they make it accessible.
Krystal, great information. Keep it coming. Fascinating. Sometimes the thought of moving to AK and escaping this craziness is pleasant.
As far as ‘clearly seeing pregnant woman aborting’ I was talking about seeing them walk into the PP clinic. I do not see them abort from the doctors office window.
Lots of Alaskan’s support the wolf hunting. It just depends on the area you ask in. Some areas are affected by the wolves while others areas are not. Palin doesn’t want to kill all the wolves that walk in Alaska. This will be carefully monitored by Alaska Fiah & Game.
As far as targeting the Native women, that is my view because of where I see PP place their clinic ads. They advertise where more Native women will be rather than white women. Its sad really because the villages are usually very supportive of their women in need and PP is making them think they are ‘wrong’ to be pregnant. I’ve also talked with some Native women who have had abortions at the PP clinic here and they said they were talked to first before all the white women. I don’t know, this is just my view of what I’ve seen and heard happen.
As far as Palin’s ratings I’m not sure because I don’t have the news stations where I live and the only thing I have to go by is the NewsMiner.com but they seem to be all Palin haters. Just read the comment section on every article.
I don’t know if anyone has seen Tripp but I bet he’s a cutie! :)
Jill~
I actually came across your articles from googling ‘abortion’ for a friend who was considering it. She had seen some of the images and decided not to have an abortion but to put her baby up for adoption. Thank you for speaking out for those who have no voice. E-mail me personally and I’ll send you some pictures of Alaska at its finest.
PP is RACIST. Their supporters don’t see anything wrong with native peoples or blacks or Hispanics or non English speaking minorities having abortions because “they need the service.” Remember what happened when they were trying to put a “Health clinic” (a PP style one) on an Indian Reservation in South Dakota?
This is how they target:
1) Poor woman needs pap smear or yearly breast exam.
2) Poor woman has no health care, so goes to PP.
3) Poor woman talked into appointment for getting on the pill or another Contraceptive device.
4) Poor woman ends up pregnant because contraceptive device fails, hello ABORTION (e.g. because poor woman is convinced she NEEDS the abortion; that she can’t raise a child. Or if woman is uneducated, woman is convinced its a blood clot or piece of tissue.
And the cycle continues.
That’s how it works.
Liz, you just hit the nail on the head!
I couldn’t have said it any better.
I think i’ll share my blog called ‘6 years’
I became a mother at 15 years of age and the only option the doctor gave me was abortion….here, I’ll post a link
http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=149153496&page=5
It’s a myspace link so I’m not if non-myspacers can view. if you cannot view but want to read please let me know. :)
“As far as ‘clearly seeing pregnant woman aborting’ I was talking about seeing them walk into the PP clinic. I do not see them abort from the doctors office window.”
Just as I suspected. SO you don’t know they’re their for abortions either.
Yes I do know they are there for abortions. The PP up here does not provide prenatal care. They are the ONLY abortion provider in Fairbanks, Alaska also. What should I think they are going there for a pregnancy test when they are clearly pregnant? Come one,I’m not stupid. . .
Please explain to me Hal what those women would be there for?
One has to use their mind to survive in Alaska. To survive in Hollywood, it is sex and plastic surgery. wildlife management gets a lot of thinking. They meet and discuss animal population and kill certain predators to bring other populations back. Judd wouldn’t uderstand that. I enjoyed Alaska a lot but it may now be a magnet for too many liberals from the lesser 48. I am sure many don’t last long.
Tougher in Alaska! Is the saying up here. Luckily we had a 4 week cold snap of -50 or colder and that got most of them out of here.
xppc please come back and visit! We love to see people up here enjoying the Alaskan land.
I oppose killing wolves for wildlife management because it is cruel, unneccessary and hey, unnatural. No excuse for it.
Hippie,
What alternatives do you suggest? If they are not killed, won’t the overpopulation leave them starving, diease ridden and force a slow painful death? If they continue to hunt down the caribous and elk, won’t that leave starving people?
Not trying to be sarcastic. Just curious.
There are also predator issues in the lower 48. Wolves and coyotes are increasingly becoming nuisances around farms, especially those with young stock. Generally there is enough wildlife to provide the food chain requirements, but not always. Pets and farm animals look the same as wildlife to hungry wolves and coyotes. We (my farm partner and myself) lost a newborn calf last year. We are not certain whether it was born dead or died (was killed?) shortly afterward, but when we discovered it, the coyotes had already been there.
Miss Judd means well in this regard, and the fact that many are taken in with this type of thinking just goes to show the disconnectedness people have with the land. One real danger that arises from this disconnectedness is the notion that life has to fit certain preconditions based upon the false perceptions of the observer. Left unchecked, the PETA types in their extremism will foist upon all of us an unsustainable and wasteful food production system.
There is another dimension to Miss Judd’s activism, and that is Palin bashing. We know the left despises Sarah Palin and will use any leverage available to bring her discredit. The advertisment seems like it is aimed first at smearing Sarah Palin, and is only secondarily concerned about the wolves. Such is the hypocrisy of the left.
And why are we all so “surprised” at the 2 heiffers shooting down Elizabeth ?
This is TYPICAL leftist reaction…refuse to see the obvious comparison and just keep blabbing so the one with the REAL LEGITIMATE point can talk.
WHY WHY WHY do so many people even listen to the likes of that insipid Ashley Judd ?
I will go to my grave in utter astonishment at why these idiot celebrities get so much attention.
Whoopi needs to spend more time growing her infernal eyebrows back and keep her fat mouth shut.
Bravo to Elisabeth H. for her stand. (Asitis, seriously, you’re going to critique her shirt? What on earth does that have to do with the validity of her comments?)
My cousin E.D. Hill recently auditioned to be on The View (she was dismissed from Fox for making comments that the Obama campaign didn’t like) but was not chosen… my guess is they didn’t want Elisabeth to have backup. There’s no way they could handle TWO beautiful blondes with brains and pro-life convictions!
Sandy, 5:18p: Good point.
Krystal, thanks for sending me your story. I’m going to post it!
Hey, she was wearing a pirate shirt. Or paying homage to Justice Ginsburg.
Elizabeth, what did E. D. say? I didn’t realize she was off Fox.
“Those of us who have been supporting those working to protect wolves for years and years notice that not only did Ms. Judd never care about wolves till she had the opportunity to slam Palin, but her idiotic commercial will stiffen resistance to the campaign against hunting wolves. ”
Great Point Hippie.
Ashley Judd is just another radical feminist..
..and I love wildlife too…I’m with Palin as long as the hunting
..on the wolves is done at the very minimum…
Good for Elizabeth for telling the feminazis to be quiet and let her speak.
“My cousin E.D. Hill’
elizabeth, your cousin is ED Hill? wow thats neat. I like ED hill..

From Fox? Golly! It must have been really incriminating then!
I did some reading a few years ago about ranchers using llamas to guard their herds. Apparently llamas hate wolves and can even kill them.
Whoopie has admitted to several abortions. I’m sure she doesn’t like it when someone tells her it’s wrong.

Right, because she obviously believes differently than they do.
backt to the topic of wolves….I got this thread from our local newspaper in Fairbanks, AK
http://www.newsminer.com/news/2009/feb/07/alaska-bashing/
This is community input article in the newspaper. So you will see all points of views from many diffent Alaskan’s.
Enjoy!

She was doing an intro to a segment about body language and referenced the “fist jab” thing that the Obamas do and said, tongue-in-cheek, “innocent gesture, or terrorist fist-jab?” as a part of the teaser to get people to stay past the commercial break.
That was it… Even Fox is not immune to pressure from TPTB.
And again, Asitis, as poor as her choice of clothing may have been, what does that have to do with the validity of her argument?
Jasper… I like E.D., too, except that I remember her as the cousin who painted me sweatshirts with balloons and my name on them, who got me an easy bake oven for Christmas one year and helped me bake cookies when I was little.
She is as genuine and loving as she is intelligent and I love her very much.
Did I say the shirt had anything to do with what she did or did not have to say?
“terrorist fist jab”? Odd.
I don’t understand if no one understood the ad. It seems like you didn’t. The problem with killing wolves this way is
A.) It gives wolves absolutely NO CHANCE to hide.
B.) Shooting them from the sky means more bad aim and more TERRIBLE pain for the wolves.
If you must kill, kill. Fine. There’s NO reason to put them in TERRIBLE pain before they die. And the whole, “$150 for a forelimb” isn’t absolutely disgusting to you? I’m glad to see you value “life”.
BTW, if anyone watched the episode of the View, you’d see where Joy said there are over 700 scientists that don’t know WHY Palin is allowing this. Who don’t think it’s necessary.
You do realize there’s a difference between a wolf “problem” and just having wolves, right?
Alaska doesn’t have a wolf over population problem. They have wolves. If you want to live in Alaska, deal with it.
Did I say the shirt had anything to do with what she did or did not have to say?
Posted by: asitis at February 7, 2009 8:18 PM
What you have done is to avoid commenting on what she said by making disparaging comments about her clothing choices.
As for “terrorist fist jab” you do realize that the point of a teaser comment is to say something provocative and/or humorous to entice the audience to stick around through the commercial break…. don’t you?
Elisabeth, it’s a blog.. that happened to be what she noticed. I don’t see why it’s a crime. It’s not like everyone here stays on topic 100% of the time..
Arrrrrrr thanks Josephine! Look elisabeth, I don’t find anything Elizabeth h says to be worth anything, let alone comment on. I think was she wears and how she looks is what has got her where she is anyway.
Ashley Judd is a self-promoting, name-dropping blow-hard who should just shut up and act. If you’re an Ashley hater, come join us at http://www.themockdock.com where we have an entire category dedicated to her idiocy. You’ll feel right at home there!!! :)

Oh please. There are just as many scientists who say it is necessary. And you obviously didn’t read a thing that Krystal wrote.
”
1. Alaska claims that aerial wolf hunting is based on “sound science,” but, as the video (or transcript) clearly shows, that is not true. Both Jeff Hughes, the then Regional Director of the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, and Ben Grussendorf, a current Board of Game member, have stated that they can’t justify the program because of a lack of scientific data.
2. Most of the benefits are going to urban and trophy hunters, not local subsistence hunters who need the meat.
3. Idaho and Wyoming are looking to Alaska to justify beginning aerial wolf hunting programs of their own.
4. Overhunting, severe winters, inadequate habitat, poaching, and the lack of enforcement are the more likely causes of reduced prey, not predators.
5. The Board of Game ignored both public and science-based concerns in setting harvest goals. They took the artificially high, peak population numbers created after decades of aerial wolf control and poisoning, and used those estimates to set population and harvest targets for each Game Management Unit, thus ensuring that the program would continue forever.”
Those Palins…. Here’s something from today’s Huffington Post. And does he do this with baby Trig strapped in a Snugli to his chest???
Alaska’s First Dude, Todd Palin, is riding a snowmobile — I’m sorry, snow machine — 1971 miles from Big Lake to Fairbanks. In the course of performing this awesome feat, his Arctic Cat’s powerful two-stroke engine will emit the same amount of hydrocarbons as an automobile driving from Chicago to San Francisco and back 150 times.
A small price for the rest of us to pay to honor the indomitability of the human spirit and one man’s ability to sit and hold on.
It’s not just a blaze of glory and aromatic hydrocarbon. A conventional two-stroke engine emits as much as a quarter of its fuel unburned, directly into the air. This week, as a participant in the Iron Dog™ snow machine race, Todd Palin will release as many cancer-causing and smog-forming pollutants as a Chevy Malibu driven around the Earth at its equator 28 times.
Seems like a lot of work, just to get away from Sarah Palin.
But Todd’s not just doing it because he hates his home life and likes things that make loud noises and emit benzene. He does it because it’s there. And for hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and gifts from corporations who do business with the Governor’s office.
For riding a snowmobile.
Something you could train a bear to do.
The Emperor Nero used to clean up at the Olympic games. It was eerie. He won everything. According to Suetonius, he once won a chariot race despite falling off and not finishing the course. That’s how good he was. He also never wore the same clothes twice. So he would have fit right in with the Palins there also.
I’m not insinuating anything. I’m just saying.
The total purse value of this year’s Iron Dog™ is $159,050. The sponsors include the petroleum giants Tesoro and Conoco-Phillips; State Farm, Wells Fargo, Frontier Airlines, Alaska Airlines and the Alaska First National Bank.
The Iron Dog™ has fewer than 40 entrants a year, and one of them is always Todd.
Does this smell? I’m probably the wrong person to ask. I hate the cold and I think motor sports is an oxymoron. But he is Alaska’s First Lady, and Tesoro is an oil company.
Let’s say this was Louisiana in the ’30s. If Texaco sponsored a pancake-eating contest, and Huey Long’s wife kept winning it, there would have been talk.
To be fair, Todd can’t win the whole purse. There are lots of little door prizes just for rookies and women and steak dinners for Cutest Hat. Just like in Jack London days.
And, to be fair, Todd doesn’t always walk away from the camping trip with the hundred grand first prize. He’s only won four times.
Once after Sarah was elected to the Wasilla City Council, once after she was elected mayor, the year she was appointed to the Alaska Oil and Gas Commission, and the year she was elected governor.
Don’t beleive everything you read online or in the newspaper. If you have an issue with people snow-machining around town or for a few thousand miles then by all means fly to Fairbanks where the race will end at Pikes Landing and come protest. I’m sure it will be well below -15 by then.
Hey Krystal, I’m from canada so I can hold my own at -15!
It does seem like a monster truck version of the Iditarod.
Yes, it’s a blog. Yes, it’s what she noticed… but… she had nothing whatsoever to say about the facts that Elisabeth H. brought up… she obviously could not refute them so chose to go with the personal attack on clothing choices theme.
It would be one thing if that were merely a part of her comments, but that was her entire comment, then she retorted with the concept that nothing Elisabeth H. says is worth commenting on…
I call bull… you can’t dispute the facts so you make snide comments about the person stating them… seems kind of petty.
Elisabeth, the topic that was brought up on the show was the video about killing wolves from planes. Elisabeth H. tossed abortion into the conversation( much the same as I tossed her pirate blouse into this one).
You might not like it, but a lot of people are more opposed to aerial hunting than abortion. The only reason I didn’t dispute the “facts” (which I asusme you mean to be the number of abortions E quoted… which I believe is incorrect anyway… and that not everyone is pro-life) is that there wasn’t really anything to dispute because she didn’t really say anything.
