Pro-life news brief 4-15-15

  • NARAL will be hosting an event where comedians make fun of pro-life pregnancy resource centers:

There’s no shortage of these laughably absurd anecdotes, and NARAL is now hoping to shed light on the manipulative tactics and misinformation of crisis pregnancy centers through an unconventional advocacy event this week in Oakland: a comedy show….

On April 16 at the New Parkway (474 24th St., Oakland), four comedians will speak out about crisis pregnancy centers as part of a comedy event NARAL is organizing called Stand Up for Choice. The show will feature Kurt Braunohler, a Los Angeles-based comedian and the event’s headliner; Nato Green, a San Francisco-based comic and San Francisco Examiner columnist; Aparna Nancherla, a New York-based comic and former writer for W. Kamau Bell’s show Totally Biased; and Eliza Skinner, an LA-based comic and Funny or Die writer. Their stand-up routines will touch on CPCs and other topics….

A majority of the centers — some licensed as community clinics by the state, others unlicensed — referred to fetuses as “babies” and told the women they were “already a mother,” NARAL reported.

Perhaps NARAL’s next move will be to make fun of baby showers and anyone who uses the term “baby bump.”

Stanek wkend Q: Thoughts on defeat of “war on women” meme?

obama-in-chicago-teaching-the-principles-of-saul-alinskyThe 5th rule in Saul Alinsky’s book, Rules for Radicals, which is the playbook of the Left (even taught by President Barack Obama when he was a law professor), is:

Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.

Activist: Like being gay, abortion a “matter of personal identity”

by Kelli On the left, it has become a source of frustration that the swift acceptance of gay rights has not been accompanied by a broader liberalization of sexual attitudes, particularly around reproductive issues. “That’s where the anti-abortion side has succeeded,” says [gay activist Dave] Fleischer. “They’ve made people feel that to speak up and […]

  • Clinic Quotes shares a quote from an abortionist who admits he does “mental gymnastics” in order to perform abortions:

… I started doing abortions on an altruistic basis. I’ve done a couple thousand, and it turned into a significant financial boon, but I also feel I’ve provided an important service. The only way I can do an abortion is to consider only the woman as my patient and block out the baby. I’ve delivered enough babies, seen enough divorces, and seen enough abused kids to do abortions with a clear conscience. This may be some kind of mental gymnastics on my part, but I really feel that parenthood is so tough that people shouldn’t back into it.

Willful blindness to link between Detroit’s abortion/preemie crises

Abortion rate Detroit related to preemie rate Live birth less than 37 weeks Detroit - abortion preemie rate related

It is one of those obvious connections I cannot comprehend the world not seeing.

Actually, liberals, media, and feminists are covering it up, which is why the rest of the world can’t see it. They’re not being told.

At least 59 studies to date confirm that forcibly opening a woman’s cervix to commiit an induced abortion can lead to an incompetent cervix for subsequent births. Even without studies to back that fact up, it’s just common sense.

Other known medical conditions than can lead to premature births and may be related to abortion include ”uterine adhesions, infection, mental stress, increased maternal age, and substance abuse,” quoting LifeIssues.net.

Preemie births have skyrocketed since the legalization of abortion in the U.S. in 1973. According to the American Association of Pro-Life Gynecologists and Obstetricians:

Premature birth (birth before 37 weeks) has increased 27% since 1981. In 2007 the premature… rate in America was 12.6% of all live births (and over 17% of all African-American births).

With all that in mind, read this maddening, heartbreaking June 10 Bloomberg article:

Claim: Rise in STDs caused by… homophobia?

by Carder With most of these populations, having a sexually transmitted disease from having sex with another man is highly stigmatized. They’d rather not get tested for HIV, syphilis, or whatever. They don’t want it to show up on their records. ~ Professor George W. Rutherford, claiming that homophobia in the South may contribute to […]

BREAKING: 93 abortion clinics closed in 2013

breakingOperation Rescue has posted a year-end report on the number of abortion clinics that closed in 2013, and the news is good.

OR, which hosts AbortionDocs.org and tracks abortion clinic comings and goings, reports a whopping 87 surgical abortion clinics and six medical abortion clinics closed in 2013, for a total of 93.

How to upset pro-aborts: Empower women to sue abortionists

by Kelli “All the work in getting pro-life legislation passed can be lost if there are no tools for enforcing them,” [AUL’s Charmaine] Yoest said by e-mail. “The enforcement module, for the first time, equips ordinary Americans to file a complaint, and expands the potential for people in their own communities – in addition to […]
