  • Fr. Frank Pavone denounces the recent death of Lakisha Wilson and her preborn child during an abortion. He calls on the US Senate to pass a ban on abortions past 20 weeks:

This bill is meant to protect unborn children from the brutal and painful death of a dismemberment abortion, but it also would save the young mothers who are often butchered during this procedure. Lakisha Wilson had her whole life ahead of her but she died because our nation still allows abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy.

  • Pro-Life in TN says many pro-lifers are wondering why on earth pro-life Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has chosen a vocal pro-choicer as his office’s spokesperson.
  • Reflections of a Paralytic has a post regarding the miscarriage suffered by the wife of Florida’s head basketball coach, Billy Donovan. Donovan found solace and comfort from two other coaches who had also lost children.

  • Michele Herzog says a group of concerned citizens in Kissimmee, Florida, have taken a stand by asking city commissioners not to allow Planned Parenthood to build a mega-facility in their community. The outpouring from post-abortive women, pastors, parents of children with special needs and others moved the commission from “we can’t do anything about this” to contacting state legislators.
  • Right to Life of Michigan says that potential Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mark Schauer “has selected Oakland County Clerk Lisa Brown as his running mate” who is reportedly “one of the most pro-abortion politicians in the state of Michigan.” One of Brown’s former employees even reported Brown’s extremely inappropriate behavior toward her when she was pregnant:

… [Ericah Caughey] said Brown made her “feel very uncomfortable” with unprofessional behavior, including an incident in which she says Brown made a vulgar suggestion alluding to abortion.

“She was looking out of a window at the Capitol lawn, where there was a pro-life rally happening. She kept saying to me, ‘those people disgust me,'” Caughey said. “She told me, ‘I should take you down there and walk behind you with a coat hanger.'”

  • Pro-Life New Mexico is increasing public awareness of the lucrative late-term abortion industry in Albuquerque. A local abortion business recently relocated, and some in the new area aren’t happy with the negative attention. One neighborhood resident commented:

It is just not a good look for Albuquerque as a whole to have tourists come off the airplane and see hundreds and hundreds of people picketing on your main stretch of street about abortion and pro-life….

As a neighborhood leader, we are not against the abortion clinic, but we are against where they are putting the abortion clinic.

Police raid clinic of infamous late-term abortionist

The rap sheet against late-term abortionist James Pendergraft is long. A convicted felon, Pendergraft’s medical license is currently suspended for the fifth time.

The movie 22 Weeks was based on a true story about Baby Rowan, who survived his abortion at one of Pendergraft’s clinics but was refused help by staff.

The man is as abortion-crazed as can be, offering $50 discount coupons for Sunday abortions in the past. Even today, if you click on his website, a pop-up coupon for discount abortions – up to 50% off late-term! – will appear…

Pendergraft offers another deal where he will kill preborn babies and leave it to the mother figure out how to rid her body of her dead child: “Once the fetal heart beat has stopped, the patient can elect to return back to her private physician to complete the induction of labor with delivery of the fetus, or they may elect to go to another facility to have the termination process completed,” states his website.

But today, finally, may mark the beginning of the end of Pendergraft’s reign of terror over helpless little babies.

This morning Orland authorities cordoned off and seized all contents of Pendergraft’s Orlando Women’s Center, one of five mills he owns.

The raid came as the result of a $36 million judgment against Pendergraft in 2011 for a lawsuit filed by Carol Howard, a mother whose 22.3 week old baby girl survived an abortion by Pendergraft in 2001 but lives with multiple handicaps, including cerebral palsy. To date Pendergraft had paid only $100,000 of that settlement.

Pendergraft was on hand today to view the confiscation of his property, claiming it wasn’t his but was part of a trust, as he told a reporter from wftv.com. Pro-life activist Michele Herzog was at the scene and told me Howard’s attorneys said Pendergraft’s attorneys had requested an emergency hearing on that basis to get the assets returned.

On the other hand Howard’s attorneys told Herzog they will also try to seize all property at Pendergraft’s other four locations.

So this certainly isn’t over.

Howard’s attorneys have not yet returned my request for comment.

pendergraft-e1327535704713Michele overheard Pendergraft say he was referring all patients to his EPOC Clinic, also in Orlando. So tomorrow pro-lifers plan to have extra sidewalk counselors on hand to reason with abortion minded mothers.

Michele found herself and another sidewalk counselor alone with Pendergraft, pictured right.

“Mr. Pendergraft, let today be the day you stop shedding the blood of innocent children,” pleaded Michele.

“Dr.!” was Pendergraft’s only response.

After a moment’s pause, Michele quietly responded, looking Pendergraft in the eye, “No, you are not a doctor. Someone who tears babies limb from limb is no doctor.”

2013-06-13_1733In 2001, Ms. Magazine took up Pendergraft’s offense on the federal charges that landed him in prison. Ms. lauded Pendergraft as “a fierce promoter of a woman’s right to choose… [and a] highly credentialed and well-regarded physician”

Ms. considered it a feather in his cap that “Pendergraft probably performs more abortions in his five clinics than any other provider in the U.S.”

Pendergraft was a featured as a “moving” speaker at the National Organization for Women’s Emergency Action for Women’s Lives rally in 2001. NOW later claimed he had been “wrongfully imprisoned.”

Pro-life activists in the Sunshine State

I’ve been in Florida since March 1 (hence the lowered rate of posts – thanks to Kel, Carder, Jivin J, Susie, Hans, and LauraLoo for standing in the gap!).

Last week I was so happy to get to meet up with Carder, who has been a moderator on the blog for several years and also posts our Quote of the Day on M-W-F…

I also got to connect with pro-life heroines Michele Herzog (below right) and Allura Lightfoot (below left) where they do sidewalk counseling several times a week at All Women’s Health Center abortion clinic in Altamonte Springs. I’ve written about Michele’s work a couple of times (here and here)…

Michele was just telling me how pro-lifers are on friendly terms with the local police, when an officer pulled up just to see how everyone was doing…

I was also honored to meet pro-life hero John Barros, who has saved hundreds if not thousands of babies at the Orlando Women’s Center, owned by infamous late-term abortionist James Pendergraft

Pro-lifers at this mill have been successful in reaching abortion-minded moms by use of megaphone, as pro-life stalwart Patte Smith’s DIL Rachel demonstrated…

At OWC I also got to meet 10-yr-old pro-life sidewalk counselor Jonah, whose mother Amanda was told by doctors to abort due to her hyperemesis and hyperesthesia olfactoria (hyper-vomiting and hypersensitive sense of smell).

God bless him, Jonah already has many saves under his belt. This day he pleaded with infamous abortionist Randall Whitney to stop killing babies…

On a daily basis pro-lifers like these wonderful people save babies and their moms from certain destruction at abortion mills across the country. I was truly honored to meet them.

Home protest makes Orlando Planned Parenthood CEO cry

Jenna Tosh returned home from a walk with her family Saturday morning  to an unwelcome surprise: 28 pro-life activists conducting an awareness campaign in front of her home.

Jenna promptly burst into tears.

This spring 28-yr-old Jenna was promoted to the position of CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando in Florida. One of the two clinics Jenna oversees commits abortion.

Jenna lives on a busy street in Winter Park.  Why did she start crying Saturday? She could have been humiliated by the exposure. She could have been upset that her young son saw graphic photos of how she makes her living. She could have been shocked at the realization her home was no longer a respite. The best hope is Jenna’s heart was pierced, and she’s on the road to a conversion. I do know a lot of people were praying for Jenna Saturday and continue to pray.

Here’s the short version of Jenna’s response to the pro-lifers…

Pro-lifers  conducted their awareness campaign for 1-1/2 hours. During that time Jenna’s husband turned on the sprinkler system, and they also called the police.

Police told one of the pro-lifers they were called to the home under false pretenses. Whoever called them claimed the pro-lifers were playing loud music, yelling at cars passing by, and blocking the road and sidewalk, none of which turned out to be true, as he noted. “He observed only people in cars yelling at us,” wrote the pro-lifer.

As Michele Herzog, one of the pro-lifers, told me, the goal of pro-life protests at the homes of abortion providers is “‘to speak up for those who have no voice’ (Proverbs 31:8) and ‘to have nothing to do with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but to rather expose them’ (Ephesians 5:11).”

In the past these awareness campaigns have borne fruit, the most recent example being just a couple months ago, also in Florida, when abortionist Scott Hye saw the light and quit the trade. We pray Jenna also sees the light. Jenna, you have a PhD, for heaven sakes. You could do so much better.

Here is the long version of the Saturday protest at Jenna’s home, prepared by Jay Rogers, who also wrote a detailed post about it…

Police investigate abortion clinic that used public library for overflow parking

Several weeks ago pro-lifers in Altamonte Springs, FL, noticed that when the All Women’s Health Center abortion clinic’s parking lot was full, deathscorts were directing cars to park at the Altamonte Springs Public Library 2-1/2 blocks away. Read more of the backstory here.

After receiving no satisfaction from city hall, Michele Herzog of Pro-Life Action Ministries organized a group of pro-life citizens to attend the City Commission meeting on October 4.

Citizens complained that taxpayer funding should not underwrite abortion mill parking. They also questioned whether the city was going to enforce codes and zoning ordinances the clinic was obviously violating. Every business should allow for ample parking, for starters.

City providing free overflow parking for abortion clinic at public library

Several weeks ago pro-lifer Michele Herzog of Pro-Life Action Ministries began noticing deathscorts at the All Women’s Health Center abortion clinic in Altamonte Springs, FL (near Orlando), directing cars to park elsewhere when their lot was full.

Pro-lifers estimate the mill kills between 10-25 babies a day.

Herzog followed the cars and saw they were all parking 2-1/2 blocks away at the Altamonte Springs Public Library. Click aerial photo, right, to enlarge.

Several questions immediately emerged.
