  • Americans United for Life board member Monique Chireau was quoted in a piece at the New York Times, but AUL says the NYT failed to report some pertinent information:

Abortion data in the United States is VOLUNTARILY reported by abortionists – and some states don’t report at all.

In contrast to most important health indicators – births, deaths, cancer, HIV, STDs, etc. – there is no national reporting law requiring that abortions or their complications be reported to national health officials or agencies. Our model legislation has been designed to address this void. And to require women and girls be given all the information available before having an abortion or taking a life-ending drug.

  • At Priests for Life, Alveda King explains why PFL plans to continue its lawsuit against the HHS Mandate, despite the government’s attempt at an “accommodation”:

Bottom line: The government is on its own in this scheme to expand access to abortion-inducing drugs and contraceptives. We want a full exemption from this mandate, so that we have nothing to do with this scheme. If people want these drugs and the government wants to provide them, then the government will have to find a way to connect with them without our help. Our religion requires no less.

Abortion enthusiasts promote illegal abortions

During the last week of May abortion proponent Dawn Porter and members of the National Network of Abortion Funds traversed southern Texas and upper Mexico to film footage for an upcoming documentary, Trapped.

Trapped will “look at the impact of Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws in the southern United States, and their disproportionate effect on women living in poverty.”

There are currently no abortion clinics in the Rio Grande Valley, which borders Mexico. The nearest one in the U.S. is 230 miles north in San Antonio.

The group filmed themselves crossing the border to buy Misoprostol, an ulcer drug that is used off-label to induce abortions.

Misoprostol is available only by prescription in the U.S. and can only be dispensed by doctors for abortions. But it can be purchased over-the-counter in Mexico.

After the purchase, NNAF tweeted photos, along with instructions on how to use Misoprostol illegally to self-induce an abortion…

NYC abortion clinic: We “release” late periods, end “invisible” pregnancies

by Kelli SofTouch® is the safest, most noninvasive method. The doctor simply inserts a soft flexible tube through the natural opening of your cervix, and applies gentle pressure. This quietly “releases” your late period and induces a miscarriage. Because it is a natural release there is immediate recovery and you can rest assured that when […]

Stanek weekend question: Should displays using abortion victim imagery be banned if causing accidents?

A petition drive is underway in Canada to block the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform from displaying banners with photos of abortion victims on an overpass in Calgary (pictured above) after one was perceived to have caused a car accident there this week.

Abortion, a disturbing reality

Some pros and cons, quoting CBC.ca:

Sharon Osbourne: Abortion was “the worst thing I ever did”

I had an abortion at 17 and it was the worst thing I ever did…. I went alone. I was terrified. It was full of other young girls, and we were all terrified and looking at each other and nobody was saying a bloody word. I howled my way through it, and it was horrible. […]

  • Clinic Quotes shares a statistic that may shed some light on why so many pro-choicers seem desperate to allow virtually anyone to perform abortions:

According to Medical Students for Choice, an organization that advocates for medical schools to train more abortion providers[,] over a third of OB/GYN residents have no training in first trimester abortions. The organization also says that nearly all family practitioners lack this training.
