Alan Colmes didn’t like my commentary about his rope-a-dope during Hannity & Colmes last week of Kristan Hawkins and Sarah Hardin of Students for Life for their undercover sting of a NC Planned Parenthood.
hannity kristan.jpgSarah posed as a 15-year-old requesting birth control to sleep with her 30 something-year-old “boy”friend. PP should have reported this to authorities but didn’t.
Colmes always tries to derail interviews with adversaries one of 2 ways, by accusing them of hypocrisy or putting them on the defensive about something off-point. Cheap and intellectually void….

Colmes tried but failed to take Kristan and Sarah off-topic by questioning their choice of sting. But they were on to Colmes and kept reorienting the conversation: Multiple PPs in many states now have a well-documented video history of demonstrating intent to cover up minor rapes.
I find Colmes frankly pathetic. He knows minor girls are certainly being raped by adult sexual predators in complicit PPs around the country, but what matters? The perfectly legal investigatory techniques.
Colmes in his blog Liberaland didn’t like that I said as much. So he reached into his small bag of tricks to attempt to invalidate me.

Colmes accused me as he had repeatedly on the show during the Obama campaign of not trying to save the live aborted baby I held.
In fact, the 1st words out of Sean Hannity’s mouth when we met at the Family Research Council’s Vote Values forum a few months ago were, “I’m so sorry for the things Alan said about you,” even though they truly didn’t bother me. I know it makes no sense to intelligent people that a pro-life nurse would let a baby die she could save.
But for the record, the baby I held was too young to save – between 21 and 22 weeks. His lungs weren’t developed. Furthermore, I received him too late to resuscitate even if he were viable. There is only a 5-6 minute window to oxygenate any human being under normal conditions.
Then Colmes added a dig at liberaland’s favorite column of mine, Italian abortion mafia:

Stanek’s views include supporting domestic violence against women who inform their husbands they’ve had abortions. Writing at World Net Daily, Stanek referred to the scene in Godfather II where Michael hits Kay after she says she had an abortion as the reaction of “a real man,” unlike the “cowardly male choice” of respecting a woman’s right to choose.

Here’s that powerful scene:

Of course liberals know the point of my column but talk stupid talk to try to discredit me. But again, I know intelligent people get my point. As Liberaland commenter Susan wrote:

Oh Alan he slapped her face when he found out she killed their child by means of abortion. A face slap and death by dismemberment. Hmmmm. Let’s see who was the violent one.

I haven’t written about the Colmes post because I couldn’t figure out a way to keep him from derailing the conversation here. But I realize this morning there’s no way out. So what the heck. I’ll derail the conversation the way I want it to go.
godfather logo.jpgI don’t know if I’ve mentioned I think Godfather I and II are the best movies of all time. I’m not the only one. Bobby Schindler is as into them as me. We both watch them whenever they’re on tv (which is really not logical because we could each buy the dvd set) and then email one another with the latest discovery.
The other day I emailed Bobby about one of my favorite scenes in Godfather II that always encourages me pro-lifers are eventually going to win. I can’t find it on YouTube so I’ll describe it. The scene comes after Michael has witnessed a car bombing in Havanna. Ignore the violence and focus on the paid/unpaid part of the conversation:

Michael Corleone: I saw a strange thing today. Some rebels were being arrested. One of them pulled the pin on a grenade. He took himself and the captain of the command with him. Now, soldiers are paid to fight; the rebels aren’t.
Hyman Roth: What does that tell you?
Michael Corleone: It means they could win.

In other words, the rebels were in the fight for the cause, which always trumps the resolve of those in the fight for the money.
