Obama’s achilles’ heel
by Carder
Edward T. Oakes, S.J. asks in a First Things journal entry the burning spiritual question about our President:
Can Barack Obama be converted on abortion? The short answer to that question is: probably not.
Oakes mentions the April 29 press conference in which a reporter asked President Obama about his unfulfilled promise of passing FOCA as his first act as president. The president managed to give a mini-lecture, but not without displaying a bit of discomfort….
Rewind to The Audacity of Hope where Oakes analyzes Obama’s interaction with Alan Keyes on the abortion issue:
Despite having absolutely no chance of winning the election, Mr. Keyes nonetheless rattled Mr. Obama… as the future president describes in this telling passage:
“Christ would not vote for Barack Obama,” Mr. Keyes proclaimed, “because Barack Obama has voted to behave in a way that is inconceivable for Christ to have behaved.”
Oakes claims:
This wasn’t the first time that Mr. Keyes had made such pronouncements…. One Republican colleague of mine in the state senate provided me with a blunt explanation of their strategy: “We got our own Harvard-educated conservative black guy to go up against the Harvard-educated liberal black guy. He may not win, but at least he can knock that halo off your head.”
What should have been a hands down, don’t-sweat-the-small-stuff home run for Obama ended up nagging him, as he states in his autobiography:
… as the campaign progressed, I found him [Keyes] getting under my skin in a way that few people ever have. …his readings of Scripture put me on the defensive.
Mr. Obama says he’s a Christian, but he supports the destruction of innocent and sacred life.
What could I say? That a literal reading of the Bible was folly? That Mr. Keyes, a Roman Catholic, should disregard the pope’s teachings?
Oakes articulates something that I have felt all along: that when it comes to abortion, Obama’s authentic position is not a source of public pride for him. He would prefer to cross his arms, blink his eyes, and POOF!
Talk economy, foreign policy, and other topics with our president, but bring out the abortion hammer and we get an amusing song and dance every time.

Obama is not a Christian. he believes some religion like Oprah that all roads lead to nirvanna. Obama’s position explains why he wouldn’t get caught around Christians on the national day of prayer. They have something he knows he doesn’t have.
The chickens come home to roost.
You are right xppc. The United Church of Christ has not adhered to Biblical teachings for years. If you were to ask BHO about the Bible, The Virgin Birth, redemption through Christ, heaven, hell, Christ’s sinless life, crucifixion, resurrection, and return, you would get some very muddy answers. He was at Trinity UCC for 20 years that teaches a “Gospel of Inclusion” that everyone gets into heaven no matter what they believe or how they live, mixed with “Black Liberation Theology”. For those who think he didn’t believe in or agree with what his “former pastor” taught, you are indeed deceived or stupid. When Wanda Sykes at the White House Press Dinner joked about “white folks” like Rush Limbaugh should die of kidney failure, BHO “got it” that is why he laughed so hard and couldn’t keep a straight face. Yes America “your chickens have come home to roost” at your own hand when you voted BHO into office. Jeremiah Wright is laughing all the way through his retirement because America drunk the kool-aid. The most pro-abortion, pro-socialism and anti-capitalism President ever is sitting in the White House.
“If you were to ask BHO about the Bible, The Virgin Birth, redemption through Christ, heaven, hell, Christ’s sinless life, crucifixion, resurrection, and return, you would get some very muddy answers. ”
Actually, I suspect he would say something along the lines of “The answer to those questions is above my pay grade”.
To those Christians who supported Obama be they black or white:
If you support Obama, how can you justify this knowing that Obama’s policies will result in the death of millions more innocent, unborn children. If this does not matter to you please help me understand this dichotomy. The very first act of Obama in office was to give money to the UN to fund abortions overseas. It’s apparently not enough for us to have rampant abortions here in this country but we must now export this death agenda beyond our own borders.
Do you have any idea what God thinks about the tearing, shredding, and mutilating of babies while they are in the womb? Do you know what a partial birth abortion is? They take a baby with it’s feet sticking our of the vagina up to it’s buttocks. They insert a needle in to the rear side of the skull near the base and suck out it’s brains. In other abortions they inject abortion into the heart to make it stop beating. In other abortions, if the baby is only of a few months gestation, they crush it’s soft skull and pull off it’s head, tear off it’s arms, yank it’s legs off and remove it piece by piece. Obama supports all of these heinous acts. Go to my web site and watch the abortion videos. http://www.ixoye.name
Not only that, but, Obama voted three, that’s THREE times against the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act. OBAMA IS A narcissistic MONSTER. HE ONLY CARES ABOUT POWER AND HIMSELF. HE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN, in fact, he is very likely a Muslim. And, this devil wants to pass FOCA, the Freedom of Choice Act which will remove all restrictions on abortion in individual states like parental notification laws, etc.,etc. This is demonically inspired and evidence that Obama gets his power from the demonic realm.
Yes we must pray for Obama, we must pray that he repent of his following satan. That he turn back to God. As David honored Saul when Saul was trying to kill David, and before David became king and would not touch Saul, we too honor God’s decision to anoint Obama as President. But that does not mean we support Obama politically, especailly when those policies are in direct opposition to the Bible. We pray for either Obama’s repentance or his defeat in office. However, what finally happened to Saul despite the fact that he was for a season, God’s chosen one to lead Israel? Saul ended up committing suicide. His life was in total disobedience to God despite the fact that God had chosen him to lead. Here’s the irony, Saul and Obama are very similar. Their rise to power was meteoric, they were both tall and handsome, they were both charismatic. And they both do not know how to obey God and therefore are obeying satan.
Let me say this. If someone tried to hurt my grandson, in or out of the womb, I would give my life in his defense. I would even take the life of the assaulter. God would expect nothing less of me as a man and as a Christian. As a Christian, we all have a duty to stand against abortion and all that support and promote it despite their convoluted ways of stating they do neither, despite how they lie about who they are, and despite their skin color. If you truly cared about Obama you would oppose his policies without compromise because that will lead to his destruction.
You must stop this deception that you have allowed yourself to believe that Obama is someone other than who is actions reveal.
Hisman,
As a fellow Christian I am not sure I agree God “decided” to annoint Obama as President. Instead I couldn’t help but think of 2 Thessalonians 2:11 “For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie.”
I recall that Matthew 25 web site of Christians supporting Obama. It was the most deceptive thing I had seen. And many people with no belief at all either didn’t know about his radical abortion beliefs, didn’t believe it or didn’t care.
One Republican colleague of mine in the state senate provided me with a blunt explanation of their strategy: “We got our own Harvard-educated conservative black guy to go up against the Harvard-educated liberal black guy. He may not win, but at least he can knock that halo off your head.”
LOL! Seriously? More like, y’all got a conservative clown to go up against a Harvard-educated liberal. Keyes lost by more than a 2-to-1 margin. Obama destroyed him, then he went on to win the presidency. “Knocked the halo off his head?” IN YOUR DREAMS. AHAHAHAHA!
Mr. Obama says he’s a Christian, but he supports the destruction of innocent and sacred life.
No he doesn’t. He just doesn’t want innocent and sacred female lives to be wasted in septic abortion wards when they could be saved by legal abortion and go home to take care of the babies they already have, or go on to have babies when they are ready. That is the truly pro-life position: legal abortion saves more lives than illegal abortion.

Posted by: reality at May 12, 2009 1:28 PM
That is absolute rubbish and FALSE. It takes 100% of the lives of innocent babies, and women still die from abortions even though they are legal.
Why don’t you take your lying propaganda elsewhere.
“You are so completely full of crap.”
:^)
Sorry, Janet, sometimes I’m just blunt like that. :D
Actually, there’s a simple reason why a proabort would claim that abortion “saves lives”. It’s because they claim an unborn human being isn’t “a life”. They achieve that blatantly dishonest conclusion by using semantic gymnastics that would curl the hair of a TV commercial ad writer.
Exactly, Doyle.
“Blatantly dishonest” + “semantic gymnastics” = “full of crap.” ;)
“Blatantly dishonest” + “semantic gymnastics” = “full of crap.”
As a man who is only 1 year away from receiving a PhD in math, I confirm that the above equation is correct.
Reality, no offense, but I have a hard time believing that you care for even a moment about women’s rights. I have a hard time believing that from anyone who can see women dying in septic wards and still thinking that abortion is innocent. It kills. Legal or not, abortion, not pro-life people, ought to be your enemy.
reality, various causes of uterine bleeding were treated on septic abortion wards, including incomplete and septic abortions due to spontaneous abortion (miscarriage). You make it sound as if every patient on a septic abortion ward was there because of a botched a self-abortion. Nice spin.
Bobby,
Thank you, professor.

Good job! R1 – looks like you hit a nerve.
Carder,
Great post. The article by Edward T. Oakes, S.J. that you linked to is certainly eye-opening – especially the quotes from Obama’s own writings. I hope everyone takes the time to read the whole article. Now I understand perfectly why Keyes felt he had to be at Notre Dame this weekend.
Here’s the link again:

Edward T. Oakes, S.J. teaches theology at the University of St. Mary of the Lake, seminary for the archdiocese of Chicago.
Better yet, read the whole book, and don’t allow yourself to be influenced by Oakes’ snarky commentary.
In the April 30th issue of the Wall Street Journal, Daniel Henninger offered this telling analysis of the President’s “leadership” style:
“Early in the campaign, in January 2007, a New York Times reporter wrote a story about Mr. Obama’s time as president of the Harvard Law Review. It was there, the reporter noted, “he first became a political sensation.”
“Here’s why: “Mr. Obama cast himself as an eager listener, sometimes giving warring classmates the impression that he agreed with all of them at once.” Also: “People had a way of hearing what they wanted in Mr. Obama’s words.”
“Harvard Law Prof. Charles Ogletree told how Mr. Obama spoke on one contentious issue at the law school, and each side thought he was endorsing their view.
Mr. Ogletree said:
“Everyone was nodding, Oh, he [Obama] agrees with me.”

Kind of like a mutated and perverted and counterfeited ‘day of Pentecost’.
Every man was hearing the ‘gospel’ of Obama in his own preferred understanding.
This is not communication.
This is the deployment of a spirit(s) of confusion.
It is more an imprisioning and deluding spirit of Babel, than the liberating and illuminating Holy Spirit of Pentecost.
Obama’s communications are calculated and measured to deceive, to captivate, to mislead the hearer, and to hide the imp behind the mask.
“Blessed are the peacemakers.”
Most people, christian or not, take the word ‘peacemaker’ to mean the one who resolves the conflict by using the diplomacy of sweetness and light to produce a cessation in hostilities between the combatants.
Peace ‘reigns’ when your enemy is so utterly defeated that you are comfortable when he is as close as the skin from the formerly roaring and now toothless and dead lion under your feet.
When your heel (which represents the body of Christ) has bruised his hoary head into complete submission.

This will not come about by an act our own selfish will produced by the reasonings of our own natural mind, but by the mind of Christ and the will of GOD.
Our enemy is not flesh and blood and the weapons of our warfare are not of this world.

Your time will be better invested reading Aseop’s fables or the Brothers Grim fairy tales than the fatuous ramblings of a narcisistic sociopath.
However, if you do not want to jeopordize the bliss of your willful ignorance, then imbibe deeply from the babel of Obama and play Russian roulette with a single shot pistol, but aim it at your foot, and not your head, so that you may be able to benefit from the lesson(s) learned so painfully.

CONFESSION OF AN EX-ABORTIONIST
By Dr. Bernard Nathanson
I am personally responsible for 75,000 abortions. This legitimises my credentials
to speak to you with some authority on the issue. I was one of the founders of the
National Association for the Repeal of the Abortion Laws (NARAL) in the U.S. in 1968.
A truthful poll of opinion then would have found that most Americans were against
permissive abortion. Yet within five years we had convinced the U.S. Supreme Court
to issue the decision which legalised abortion throughout America in 1973 and produced
virtual abortion on demand up to birth. How did we do this? It is important to understand
the tactics involved because these tactics have been used throughout the western world
with one permutation or another, in order to change abortion law.
THE FIRST KEY TACTIC WAS TO CAPTURE THE MEDIA
We persuaded the media that the cause of permissive abortion was a liberal enlightened,
sophisticated one. Knowing that if a true poll were taken, we would be soundly defeated,
we simply fabricated the results of fictional polls. We announced to the media that we
had taken polls and that 60% of Americans were in favour of permissive abortion. This is
the tactic of the self-fulfilling lie. Few people care to be in the minority. We aroused
enough sympathy to sell our program of permissive abortion by fabricating the number of
illegal abortions done annually in the U.S. The actual figure was approaching 100,000 but
the figure we gave to the media repeatedly was 1,000,000. Repeating the big lie often
enough convinces the public. The number of women dying from illegal abortions was around
200-250 annually. The figure we constantly fed to the media was 10,000. These false
figures took root in the consciousness of Americans convincing many that we needed to
crack the abortion law. Another myth we fed to the public through the media was that
legalising abortion would only mean that the abortions taking place illegally would then
be done legally. In fact, of course, abortion is now being used as a primary method of
birth control in the U.S. and the annual number of abortions has increased by 1500% since
legalisation.
THE SECOND KEY TACTIC WAS TO PLAY THE CATHOLIC CARD
We systematically vilified the Catholic Church and its “socially backward ideas” and
picked on the Catholic hierarchy as the villain in opposing abortion. This theme was
played endlessly. We fed the media such lies as “we all know that opposition to abortion
comes from the hierarchy and not from most Catholics” and “Polls prove time and again
that most Catholics want abortion law reform”. And the media drum-fired all this into the
American people, persuading them that anyone opposing permissive abortion must be under
the influence of the Catholic hierarchy and that Catholics in favour of abortion are
enlightened and forward-looking. An inference of this tactic was that there were no non-
Catholic groups opposing abortion. The fact that other Christian as well as non-Christian
religions were {and still are) monolithically opposed to abortion was constantly
suppressed, along with pro-life atheists’ opinions.
THE THIRD KEY TACTIC WAS THE DENIGRATION AND SUPPRESSION OF ALL
SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE THAT LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION
I am often asked what made me change my mind. How did I change from prominent abortionist
to pro-life advocate? In 1973, I became director of obstetrics of a large hospital in New
York City and had to set up a prenatal research unit, just at the start of a great new
technology which we now use every day to study the foetus in the womb. A favourite pro-
abortion tactic is to insist that the definition of when life begins is impossible; that
the question is a theological or moral or philosophical one, anything but a scientific
one. Foetology makes it undeniably evident that life begins at conception and requires
all the protection and safeguards that any of us enjoy. Why, you may well ask, do some
American doctors who are privy to the findings of foetology, discredit themselves by
carrying out abortions? Simple arithmetic at $300 a time, 1.55 million abortions means an
industry generating $500,000,000 annually, of which most goes into the pocket of the
physician doing the abortion. It is clear that permissive abortion is purposeful
destruction of what is undeniably human life. It is an impermissible act of deadly
violence. One must concede that unplanned pregnancy is a wrenchingly difficult dilemma,
but to look for its solution in a deliberate act of destruction is to trash the vast
resourcefulness of human ingenuity, and to surrender the public weal to the classic
utilitarian answer to social problems.
AS A SCIENTIST I KNOW, NOT BELIEVE, KNOW THAT HUMAN LIFE BEGINS AT
CONCEPTION
Although I am not a formal religionist, I believe with all my heart that there is a
divinity of existence which commands us to declare a final and irreversible halt to this
infinitely sad and shameful crime against humanity.
[Dr. Nathanson has since converted to Catholicism, being baptised in 1996.]
If all the republicans have to offer is distraction and outrage at off-color comments by a comedian they are still no better off than they were before Wanda Sykes took the stage.
The humor of sykes was inappropriate and offensive, but that does nothing to reconnect mainstream america to anything the conservatives have to say. All sykes proves is that the White House Correspondents Association needs to vet their entertainment better.
Doctor Accused of Sexually Abusing Abortion Patients
Tuesday, March 31, 2009
Print ShareThisA jury heard the testimony of three women who claim they were sexually abused by an anesthetist during their abortions, the Manchester Evening News reported.
Dr. Narenda Sharma, of Ashwood in Bowdon, England, was charged with three counts of “causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent” after he allegedly used the hands of female patients to perform obscene acts on himself after administering anesthesia to them during abortion procedures.
All three patients were given a partial anesthesia and were unaware of their surroundings when the alleged incidents took place, according to the testimony.
A nurse witnessed one of the alleged incidents, while another staff member, Paul Clare, saw the other two alleged incidents, prosecutor Michael Lavery told Manchester Crown Court. All three incidents allegedly happened sometime between April 18 and 29 of last year.
Sharma’s lawyers told the jury their client is an innocent victim of racism, bullying and lies.
Patient awoke to find abortionist raping her
In 1995, abortionist Lawson A. Akpulonu found himself in trouble. Akpulonu, 49 at the time of his arrest , worked for three abortion clinics, and according to the LA Times (LA Doctor’s license is suspended in sex case: 2/18/1995), was arrested while at work at one of the clinics, the Midland Medical Center in Culver City.
The LA Times reported that documents filed by the attorney general stated that a patient told authorities that Akpulonu performed an abortion on her in a Culver City clinic Jan. 28, 1995, and that while she was still under anesthesia after the procedure, the documents state that she “awoke to find respondent raping her. . . . Akpulonu gave (the) patient . . . a shot and she went back to sleep.”
They also reported that, another patient said Akpulonu fondled her after he performed an abortion on her at a South Gate clinic Nov. 9, 1992. Another patient alleged that Akpulonu made sexual comments to her and touched her improperly during a clinic visit Aug. 2, 1994.
A March 18,1993 LA Times article entitled, State slow to discipline physicians, reporting on how slow the state of California is to discipline bad doctors stated that Akpulonu pleaded guilty to medical insurance fraud and in 1992 one of Akpulonu’s employees complained to the Medical Board that the doctor did not sterilize his surgical tools and used untrained people to assist in operations. A January 31,1993 article said that Akpulonu had been convicted of threatening enemies with a loaded gun
In 1996, the Medical Board of California revoked Akpulonu’s license.
It’s not lookin real good for you on the RARE or SAFE side. Legal. I’ll throw you a bone on that one. The abortionists of today are still the very same depraved individuals they were in the back ally days.

Abortion doctor Finkel arrested, accused of sexually abusing patients
The Arizona Republic
A grand jury indicted Brian Finkel (shown in a 1995 photo) on 16 counts of sexual abuse and one count of sexual assault.

The Arizona Republic

Valley abortion doctor Brian Finkel was arrested this morning outside his Phoenix home, accused of sexually abusing at least nine patients over an 8-year period.
The arrest culminated a yearlong investigation by Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley, who said that “every time we thought we could wrap up the investigation, another victim comes forward.”
Finkel, who wears a gun on his side as protection against abortion protesters, was arrested without incident about 8:45 a.m. at his home near 16th Street and Thunderbird Road. A grand jury indicted him on 16 counts of sexual abuse and one count of sexual assault; the incidents reportedly happened between October 1993 and August of this year.
The indictment alleges that Finkel, 51, fondled patients’ breasts and private parts. In one instance, the doctor placed his hands over the mouth of a victim and held her against her will, the indictment charges.
Finkel was being held on $225,000 bond. He is expected to be read the charges at an initial court appearance today.
Phoenix police began investigating in March of 2000, when a woman reported being abused by Finkel, and authorities found additional victims, especially after the allegations surfaced in media reports.
“This is not an abortion issue,” Romley said this morning, likening the investigation to his office’s prosecution of abortion doctor John Biskind for a botched abortion. “In the Biskind case there was clear medical negligence. In this case, there’s clear sexual abuse.”
Biskind, 75, was convicted of manslaughter in February and sentenced to five years in prison.
On Monday, the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine and Surgery ordered Finkel to stop practicing medicine immediately after the panel, which oversees osteopathic doctors, concluded that he poses “an immediate danger to the public.” The order was delayed Tuesday by a Maricopa County Superior Court judge, who scheduled a formal administrative hearing on Nov. 5
The physicians board had met Saturday to review Phoenix Police Department reports of complaints against Finkel and meted out its harshest punishment. The board disagreed with Finkel’s explanation of why he touched the women the way he did while performing abortions.
Finkel’s attorney, Richard Gierloff, said earlier this week that the allegations are “meritless” and span 10 years. One of the allegations was dismissed by the board, he added.
Gierloff was in trial today and not immediately available for comment about Finkel’s arrest.
William Harrison… Abortion is birth control
In an interview on Nightline on January 11, 2006, Martin Bashir spoke with abortionist William Harrison.
Harrison comments, “I’ve had lots of patients who come in for second, third, fourth, fifth, even one who had nine abortions.”
Bashir replies, “Is that really appropriate?”
Abortionist Harrison, “If she needs nine abortions, yeah.”
Later in the show, abortionist Harrison says this, “Basically, abortion is a method of birth control. You know, it’s not the best method of birth control. But all it does is stop the birth of a baby that a woman doesn’t want at a time she doesn’t want it.”
Cocaine, stalking – just another day
According to NY State Board of Professional Medical Conduct Case # BPMC 01-99, abortionist Daniel Holschauer had been treated for cocaine abuse and was reported to have lied on his medical applications about his troubles. Local news stated that he lied to officials at two hospitals when he applied for privileges at both hospitals, claiming he’d never had a problem with drugs or alcohol abuse. An article in the The Times Herald (01/06/01) stated that in fact, he’d been in drug rehab for cocaine addiction, which had cost him a job in 1988, and which was an ongoing problem. He was also charged with stalking abortion patients that he wanted to have sex with.
I end life for a good reason
In a December 2004 article, Confessions of an Abortion Doctor, an abortionist tells Boston Magazine’s Cheryl Alkon this about doing abortions, “I have the utmost respect for life; I appreciate that life starts early in the womb, but also believe that I’m ending it for good reasons. Often I’m saving the woman, or I’m improving the lives of the other children in the family. I also believe that women have a life they have to consider. If a woman is working full-time, has one child already, and is barely getting by, having another child that would financially push her to go on public assistance is going to lessen the quality of her life. And it’s also an issue for the child, if it would not have had a good life. Life’s hard enough when you’re wanted and everything’s prepared for.”
The abortion doctor ends the sentence this way, “So yes, I end life, but even when it’s hard, it’s for a good reason.”
Obama isn’t pro-choice. (After he wants to make all of our decisions for us. Anyone who disagrees with him is an extremist.)
He is pro stem cell harvesting. He favors “cost effective” treatment options and stem cell harvesting costs less than full term delivery and then raising the child.

I think you are right. The prolife movement is getting stronger! We have the Prez to thank for that, I guess.
Eileen#2, you see what happens when you post some of the ugly truth about abortionists. They run off. Nope. Just can’t justify the sex abuse.
re: heather at May 13, 2009 6:44 AM
Not every abortionist is “on my side”, just as not every lesbian comedian (Sykes) is on my side.
Simply because one abortionist says abortion is killing doesn’t mean it is so. Simply because he performs abortions doesn’t make him the authority on the procedure.
Oh no. YLT, it does too make it so. It is YOU who doesn’t want it to be so.
YLT, Warren Hern, Colorado abortionist, also admits that he’s a killer. One day a friend of his called him at the office and asked, “Still killing babies at this hour?”
Simply because he performs abortions doesn’t make him the authority on the procedure.
Posted by: Yo La Tengo at May 13, 2009 10:01 PM————————————————————- Then who would be an authority on the procedure? You see, YLT, deep down inside, everyone knows that abortion is murder. RTLfers know, abortionists know, and women who have abortions know.
Right, Heather – very true that they know it is murder. And many abortionists are starting to no longer deny that what they are doing is killing a living child. Otherwise, an abortionist who provides “funeral services” for a child that they and some mother have just killed would not offer those services… after all, if it were TRULY just tissue or just a part of the mother’s body, then wouldn’t they find it just as incomprehensible to give rites for another part of the body – such as if someone would suggest they offer funeral services for, let’s say, an amputated limb or a defective lung that’s been removed? It’s just as traumatic in many cases for someone to lose a part of their own body – could they possibly suffer any less to destroy the body and life of another person entirely?
Yes, many abortionists have stopped denying it is the killing of a child.
