Breaking news: Tiller’s mill closed permanently
Just received the following article from Operation Rescue’s Troy Newman with this note:
Dear Friends, It is a bittersweet moment. Operation Rescue was just 2 months away from getting Tiller’s medical license revoked and that would have accomplished the same goal.
From KWCH this morning:
Lee Thompson and Dan Monnat, attorneys for the family of Dr. George Tiller, issued the following statement today:
“The family of Dr. George Tiller announces that effective immediately, Women’s Health Care Services, Inc., will be permanently closed. Notice is being given today to all concerned that the Tiller family is ceasing operation of the clinic and any involvement by family members in any other similar clinic.
We are proud of the service and courage shown by our husband and father and know that women’s health care needs have been met because of his dedication and service. That is a legacy that will never die. The family will honor Dr. Tiller’s memory through private charitable activities.
The Tiller family wishes to assure Dr. Tiller’s past patients that the privacy of their medical histories and patient records will remain as fiercely protected now and in the future as they were during Dr. Tiller’s lifetime.”
There will be no more statements or comments on behalf of the family on this matter.

It is finished.
Well, at least now there’s a chance that this family cycle might finally be broken. Dr. Tiller had wanted to be a dermatologist before his immediate family was killed in a plane crash and he was pushed into taking over his father’s practice which is where he started doing abortions. How I wish this man would’ve followed his original goal instead of being chained to the sins of his father. I hope maybe now this family will find peace, eventually, somehow.
I hope his family finds some solace.
No better solace than Jesus!
I wonder if Tiller lost his license if he would have closed his abortuary. Wouldn’t he just have sold it or leased it to another murderer?
The innocent blood flowing from this death chamber has been stopped. Thank God.
I fear that another doctor will soon take his place. They make too much money to stop this horror.
J. A.,
If you were a third trimester baby, carried in your mother’s womb as she entered Tiller’s “clinic”, and you knew what was about to occur, would you feel terror?
“We are proud of the service and courage shown by our husband and father and know that women’s health care needs have been met because of his dedication and service. That is a legacy that will never die. The family will honor Dr. Tiller’s memory through private charitable activities.”
So proud of it they are dissociating themselves from it – but are they really? Let’s keep an eye one what those private “charitable” activities are.
A bittersweet moment indeed.
Hopefully this will remained closed.
Parker: What do you bet its funds to help “poor women” kill their babies? Or Bill Gates’ foundation which supports abortion and contraception in 3rd world countries?
A real charity would be giving $ to an infant hospice that cares for terminally ill infants and provides comfort to their parents. But even I wouldn’t accept BLOOD money.
“The family of Dr. George Tiller announces that effective immediately, Women’s Health Care Services, Inc., will be permanently closed.
A pro-lifer should buy the building, raze it, and set up a memorial to those babies killed there.
In a perfect world there would be no abortion. I am so sad that people seek out abortion, especially late term. Now that Dr. Tiller is gone, maybe some children will live that weren’t supposed to. There is some comfort in that.
Carhart was drooling over getting this deal.
He is a hog and may not survive here either as a tennant. Taking over a practice means a lot of reports and old file maintenance. I think he looks too lazy. He also thinks about it, he would face more and different hasstles from protests to inspections.
Hooyah! But, again, the end did not justify the means…
Liz,
Is Carhart wealthy enough to sell his dump and buy the place?
The complaints referred to in the KSBHA letters centered on an abortion patient who suffered substantial complications from a late-term abortion she received at Tiller’s Women’s Health Care Services in September, 2008. Both Tiller and Sella participated in her abortion. The victim’s name is being withheld to protect her privacy. [Read more.]
“Since the woman involved suffered life-threatening injuries, issues involving Sella’s participation in this botched abortion must still be addressed by the Board,” said Newman.
Sella, who resides in California and worked for Tiller one week out of three, could still face the revocation of her Kansas medical license. View Sella Letter
There is still an open investigation regarding other docs at this clinic. Bring on another doc. He can walk into a clinic that may be ordered closed by the state anyhow. As long as there is an opeinvestigation of a doc that worked out of this clinic, closing it doesn’t close the investigations.
operation rescue found this.
She should lose her license. RJ
Keith: I don’t know. All I do know is that I wouldn’t put it past him to try to keep it open secretly, himself.
Janet: I know Operation Rescue did this with another abortuary in Wichita. They gutted it and made it the headquarters of their national office. They took pictures of it before they refurbished it and oh……those pictures would make anyone throw up…..
And their former governor VETOED a bill that would have required standard medical regulations for the abortuaries.
Florida’s Fifth dictrict court of appeals is to hear arguments concerning Abortionist James Pendergraft Tomorrow. RJ
I know there was talk of a pro-life businessman making a huge offer on the place and putting Tiller out of business. This was all before it looked like he was going to be prosecuted.
I urge someone to buy it before Carhart can get his grubby hands on the late-term abortion money.
I second Janet’s motion to convert it into a memorial.
May that building be leveled and the ground turn red permanently to show the world the innocent blood that was spilled there…
PS May the building materials be burned into ash .
Translation:
We got a big insurance settlement and don’t need to provide any more abortion services to live as we are accustomed to.
Oh, by the way, if you try to sue us because you think we now have deep pockets, just try because we will fiercely block any subpoenas of patient records.
“…a legacy that will never die.”
Words that struck me with a strong impact.
I’m not from around these parts. You might want to call me a troll — be my guest, I am devoted to Jesus and will turn the other cheek. I’d like to share a different view of Dr. Tiller’s work with you, if you are at all open-minded.
On June 2, 2009 one of Keith Olbermann’s guests was Susan Hill, a colleague of George Tiller for over 20 years. She’s also the President of the National Women’s Health Foundation: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#31073370
Ms Hill gave some of the reasons patients came to Dr. Tiller for a late term abortion.
She spoke of young girls, aged 10 or 11, who were victims of rape or incest and never told anybody. She said that nobody else would even see them, but Dr. Tiller not only did the service for free for those girls, he also paid for their transportation expenses. “He wanted them to have a chance at a normal life.”
She spoke of women who had terminal cancer and didn’t know that they had it until they were 27 or 28 weeks along.
And also of women that had fetal demises, which is the death of the fetus in the uterus. “I had a doctor who told me it didn’t matter if she had a fetal demise, it was her job to carry the dead fetus for another 10 or 12 weeks. Dr. Tiller did not believe that was his choice, it was the woman’s choice.”
Ms. Hill also made the following statement: “These were women who generally, except for the younger ones, wanted to have a baby, they wanted to have a pregnancy.”
The sad fact is that not every pregnancy results in a healthy baby (try googling “anencephaly” and look at the pictures).
Those who would deny late term abortions to desperate mothers who desperately wanted their babies are unspeakably cruel. Didn’t Jesus say to “Judge not, lest you be judged”? You should thank God that you yourself don’t have to walk down some of the dark paths walked by these women.
P.S. Watch the clip and decide for yourself if you think Ms. Hill is an untrustworthy liar before you dismiss her views …
Love Thy Neighbor,
I won’t watch the video because I’m so sick of the media spin on what a “hero” Tiller was, and how he only did abortions on babies that had serious health problems, or for the mother’s “health.”
What about abortions done on viable, healthy babies, what about women who suffered complications and died after abortions, and what about Tiller’s admission he did abortions right up to the ninth month of pregnancy?
No, you won’t hear stories like that from the state run media, only heart rendering stories of women who were “desperate” and how Tiller was the only person in the world willing to help them.
The state run media is brainwashing people not only on abortion but on Barry’s socialism. There isnt even an attempt at being objective.
Just check out Newsbusters and see what I mean!
As for babies with anecephaly, have you read Faith Hope’s blog?
http://babyfaithhope.blogspot.com/
Personally I think it’s unspeakably cruel to abort these babies no matter what the condition. We have no right to make decisions of life or death.
Love Thy Neighbor, no. no. and no! Don’t you realize that an abortionist will abort a 10, 11, 12 year old girl, and then send her right back to her abuser!! Most of these girls will become pregnant again and again, and the abortionist will not report it!!
Love Thy Neighbor:
You have fallen into the typical demonic trap of justification and moral relativism. You claim to be a follower of Jesus but I doubt that you really know God’s Word.
Was it not Mary herself who had every reason to abort? She was proablay only 12 or 13 when she was visited by the angel who told her that she would bear the Savior of the World. Abortion is NEVER justified, NEVER!
My wife was 16 weeks along and a tumor on her ovary was discovered. The doctor and the pastor said she should get an abortion. We refused.
My wife is healed and we have a 13 year old who is healthier than a bull, who, following your logic would not be around today. We also have a 100% pro-life pastor now too!
Yes, abortion is against everything that requires faith for success.
Before you claim to love your neighbor I suggest you learn what loving means. It means guiding people to follow God’s will and not our own. We first must learn what God’s will is before we can do that.
Proverbs 16:25 (New International Version)
25 There is a way that seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death.
Jesus also said “Whatsoever you do to the least of my people, you do unto me,”
Hate the Sin, Love the Sinner.
The problem, Love Thy Neighbor, is that abortionists that aborted the babies of a young girl, whether she was 11, 12, or 13 or whatever…..whom was the victim of sexual abuse……does not help the girl. She will get sent right back to her abuser and most likely end up pregnant again. Why? Because these abuse cases are NOT reported.
These girls should be taken away and protected by CPS, not sent for abortions.
Not to mention the fact that he did 350-500 late-term abortions per year. He must have done 1800 abortions per year just to reach the 60,000 number people keep throwing around. He actually bragged about doing 60k like 10 years ago.
So people that buy into the “Tiller was a compassionate man for doing abortions on rape victims” garbage haven’t done their math.
I’m sure a good percentage of his victims were down syndrome and cleft lips. But regardless, the babies he aborted for genetic deformities didn’t deserve to have their skulls crushed. They deserved a shot at life and a natural death and burial.
I heard about a baby diagnosed with a fatal form of dwarfism that he was planning on aborting. The women went next door to the CPC and found out her baby didn’t have the condition after all. The baby was born and is fine. So many stories just like this.
What about the woman in the U.K. with a uterine tumor that was pressured to abort? She was carrying twins. The twins kicked the tumor loose and she delivered it with the twins! Not aborting saved her life!
P.S. If a baby dies before birth it’s a miscarriage, not an abortion. These babies can be delivered at a hospital.
As a pediatric nurse who has worked labor and delivery, who has experience with the very situations you describe and with the very babies you think should die because of a situation… I assure you, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Nothing that Tiller did was necessary. In fact, every one of those issues is handled appropriately in hospitals without any problem. The reason for Tiller was not that women couldn’t get real health care, it was that they couldn’t abort healthy babies in the third trimester who they decided were a nuisance.
Late term abortions are never medically necessary.

Read some of these stories.
If What Dr. Tiller was such a good man, then Why did he mis treat women?
Love thy nabior, What you don’t know is, that their are women on here who have had abortions, and they are scared forever. You should really be carful what concerning this issue. In fact, One of the women who had her abortion, her baby was born alive, and the medical staff wouldn’t even come to her aid! Abortion hurts women! RJ
“She spoke of young girls, aged 10 or 11, who were victims of rape or incest and never told anybody. She said that nobody else would even see them, but Dr. Tiller not only did the service for free for those girls, he also paid for their transportation expenses. “He wanted them to have a chance at a normal life.””
Yes, what a wonderful way to have a chance at a normal life. Give them two traumas to overcome instead of one.
Abortion does not erase things that have happened in the past. It doesn’t somehow cancel out sexual abuse; it doesn’t help girls to forget what happened to them. It solves NOTHING. It can be as traumatic if not more so as being raped. Girls who get pregnant from sexual abuse and have the babies have the solace that there was one good thing to come out of the whole horrible nightmare. Girls who get pregnant from sexual abuse and have abortions just get another reason to feel pain, shame, and guilt. They get to be spread out on a table with yet another man invading their bodies, and then it’s another thing no one wants to talk about. When people do talk about it, the girls get told it was the right thing to do. So, if they’re having regrets, something must be wrong with them, they think. They don’t want to tell their parents, “I was a little fifth-grader and you subjected me to this.” So they stuff down the feelings and start drinking or being promiscuous or cutting themselves.
“Those who would deny late term abortions to desperate mothers who desperately wanted their babies are unspeakably cruel. Didn’t Jesus say to “Judge not, lest you be judged”? You should thank God that you yourself don’t have to walk down some of the dark paths walked by these women.”
You’re making a lot of assumptions, aren’t you? How do you know that there aren’t people here who haven’t gone through these situations?
Yes, some babies are not born healthy. Would you go up to someone who was born with birth defects and tell them they should have been aborted? Abortion is frequently a form of eugenics. Let’s just get rid of everyone who’s not perfect, they don’t deserve a chance like the NORMAL people do.
No one here is saying that women who have abortions are evil, or are going to go to hell. If no one is “allowed” to judge whether a behavior is good or bad, why don’t we just abolish all laws? Who needs a criminal justice system? Let’s not be judgmental, guys!
Abortionists take advantage of women in stressful, painful situations and are happy to make a good living doing it. What kind of doctor devotes his or her career to performing unnecessary operations? What kind of doctor devotes his or her career to cutting up tiny human bodies?
I wish George Tiller were still alive. I would have loved to see him become the next Bernard Nathanson. But I’m not going to just go along and say, “well, he did what he did, but let’s not judge.” It is not judging a person to disapprove of their actions and think their actions are wrong.
Marauder, fabulous post! I believe most of us could agree. Let’s just drop all of the murder, rape, Drunk driving and drug laws, laws for punishing pedophiles, speeding, kidnapping and let’s just all try to GET ALONG!!!:/
Love thy neighbor, you stated “I am devoted to Jesus…”
Here’s my simple question/ answer to ALL the heart-wrenching scenarios you stated on Tiller:
What would Jesus have done???
Would He have chosen abortion in ANY of these cases?
Search your heart and soul before you answer…
Love Thy Neighbor is correct about one thing, however – the older women who saw tiller (typically those aged 30 and above) were mostly women who wanted to have children and encountered insurmountable complications in their pregnancies. Some had placenta issues which conflicted with fetal development. Some had miscarriages (fetal demise, usually), which Dr. Tiller agreed to manage. Most had found serious birth defects that presented a burden to great to bear on their bodies or their ability to care for a seriously ill child. Dr. Tiller helped them all. If you look at the tributes to Dr. Tiller at legacy.com, you’ll notice a lot of former patients talk about their children. These are the women Love Thy Neighbor is referring to.
And Dr. Tiller himself told audiences in his appearances that he helped women who months or years earlier were protesting outside his clinic. He treated them with the same compassion and respect for privacy he treated every other woman.
He treated them with the same compassion and respect for privacy he treated every other woman.
Like he treated this young woman?

Unbelievable, O’Reilly insinuates to his murderous followers to kill this guy 28 times and then you Vampires feast in the bloodlust. What has been voted on and sanctioned as law in this country is still law, it is not up to you people to solicit domestic terrorism. Bill Gates, be careful looks like they are going to target you soon or maybe (GOD HELP US) they will boycott windows and these murdering fools won’t have a medium for posting their hatespeech to the right-wing fanatics of the world. I hope that Billo’s guest (kelly) realizes that even though she helped facilitate Dr. Tiller’s murder the same fanatic’s probably consider her as a baby killer for having an abortion. You people have a problem with the law? work within the law to change the law… Sorry, not the way of the right wing, solicit murder instead. I hope that your time in prison for solicitation of murder (accessory before the fact) is filled with the wonders of your cell mate BUBBA. The people of this country have spoken time and again, abortion is legal, Murder is not, solicitation of murder is not. Get over it.
Heywood, paranoid much? Abortion is murder!
