Jill Stanek aggravates Nancy Keenan
Amanda Carpenter from The Washington Times contacted me for a quote today following a liberal conference she attended where she said NARAL’s Nancy Keenan spoke my name in vain several times. Amanda later reported:
Media Matters, a liberal organization that tracks conservative bias in the media, gathered like-minded advocacy group leaders Thursday to discuss how the right-wing media had “mainstreamed the fringe.”…
Fox News was the biggest target of the panel’s criticism with panelists bashing hosts Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck and others for what they called reckless rhetoric designed to incite extremist audience members. Media Matters also singled out talk radio titan Rush Limbaugh….
NARAL Pro-Choice America President Nancy Keenan [pictured left] said social networking sites and blogs also played a role in promoting hateful rhetoric along with big-name television hosts like Mr. O’Reilly who “give license to the fringe element to act violently.”
Ms. Keenan also mentioned pro-life blogger Jill Stanek as one of the blogs, saying that dynamic had led to the “creation of an isolated community that lives within the echo chamber of right-wing media and blogs like Jill Stanek’s.”
Mrs. Stanek dismissed the complaints as sour grapes, telling The Washington Times after the conference that “‘Mainstreaming the fringe’ is simply creative acknowledgement by Media Matters that pro-lifers are now polling in the majority. This fact also means the ‘echo chamber’ in which I speak is bigger than theirs, with a lot less carnage. It’s certainly more fun to be in an echo chamber than a death chamber.”

“First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.” Mahatma Gandhi
You must be doing something right, Jill, to be getting so much attention from the pro aborts.
And I’d rather be in the echo chamber any day as well! We are winning this battle!
Jill:
They are setting us up for passage of The Fair Doctrine Act by creating straw men arguments related to terrorism, safety, national security, etc., so they can justify its passage. This is tampering with the Constitution which to me would be tantamount to an act of war.
It’s all about positioning and posturing.
Do not be caught off guard.
We need to be doing the same thing they are doing and that is raising funds to counter their upcoming propaganda. Let’s start fighting fire with fire.
Mark my words.
Jill,
All I can say is I love Rush, Bill, Glenn and you. You’re in good company.
I wouldn’t say this is a complete echo chamber. Are there not pro-choice people who are regular readers and commenters here on this blog? Many readers may agree with Jill most of the time, but there are more than a handful who do not. Isn’t this so?
And, usually, I think, unless the pro-choice folks are personally attacking someone or not making any sense, they are usually taken seriously–at least seriously enough to be argued with in what is usually a respectful, though convicted, way (and being convicted is not disrespectful).
What a fabulous, savvy response, Jill!!!
No one is really scared of pro-lifers. They’re scared that the tide is changing, that more people know about fetal development and are starting to recognize the violence and horror of abortion.
I think His Man has a great point. Much of the reason that Tiller’s murder is so emphasized is in the hopes of building a case to silence normal Americans.
yet it is ok for them to post that nasty offensive website lauding the work of “Dr.” Tiller?
Basically a mouthpiece for women who’ve had abortions and work in the abortion industry.
They are scared of The Truth. The Truth that abortion kills innocent babies, that abortion harms and kills women and that our collective voices are getting louder and louder. Oh, and when abortion becomes unthinkable once again, they will be missin their blood money.
Keep it up, Jill!!
Great response Jill!
I want to do a political cartoon with Nancy Keenan attaching a target to you, complete with crowds of nasty pro-aborts, and knife & forcep-wielding “doctors”.
What they are doing is straight out of the Alinsky play-book:
Instead of discussing the merits of your testimony or defending how it’s possible that abortion doctors might NOT complete what they were hired to do (kill the child) in performing the abortion, they attack you. That’s an ad-hominem to the argument you’re making re: Barack Obama supporting infanticide and the culture of feeding off the whole of motherhood.
They don’t want to debate on the merits, they simply want to put those who oppose them (on the merits) on mock trial.
Let’s deliberate!
They are completely out of ammunition (effective arguments) and all they are doing now is signaling that by making lots of nasty loud noises and talking trash.
Nancy, the truth is you harm women when you tell them it’s okay to violently kill their children. The violence and carnage of abortion is far greater than any other man made violence on earth.
Seeing the frenzied desperation of the uber liberal press is sort of satisfying, in a strange kind of way.
Congratulations Jill and great come back. Echo chamber versus death chamber! Excellent!

Chris have you read the I am Dr. Tiller website? Very revealing. On that site so far, I’ve counted 7 post abortive women, two women whose mother had at least one abortion, and one man who drove women (girlfriends?) to abortions.
I’m betting most people who support abortion have had abortions, been involved in some way in an abortion, or see abortion as an option for themselves.
They truly do work in death chambers.
When you have an abortion and do not regret it you tend to encourage others around you to get them, to justify your own. You tell others to mind their own business and it’s my body and well…we know the rhetoric. Sad but true.
I encouraged my two sisters to get abortions. Thank you Lord that they did not listen to me. I have 2 beautiful nephews!!! :)
Carla, the seven women on the Dr. Tiller website are the ones that admitted to having abortions. I’m betting there were many more. There were also two women who had girlfriends who had abortions.
Betcha you jacked up Nancy’s blood pressure with that reply, Jill. Good job.
That pic of Keenan has her looking like a cross between George Tiller and Kim Jong Il.
“Reckless rhetoric designed to incite extremist audience members.”
It is infuriating that they insult us like that! They do not understand us just because we don’t agree with murdering children and there insane ideology. I guess it is true that people fear what they do not understand. The comment blaming O’Reilly for “giving license to the fringe element to act violently.” Is ridiculous! Jill I am glad that you are standing up for your beliefs. Keep up the good work!
Come to think of it, it’s quite an honor to “aggravate” Nancy Keenan, isn’t it? I’d make a badge of that fact and wear it proudly!
This is positively laughable. Let’s see, why not do something really useful like campaigning for less violence on TV and movies. Movies glorify torture, the more the better.
Oh but wait, that’s Hollywood, bastion of liberalism.
OK, what about rap music that denigrates women, glorifies violence against women, glorifies the killing of police and women.
Oh excuse me, that’s artistic freedom and freedom of speech.
Does any of this inspire violence. Why certainly not according to liberals.
Rush, Sean, and Bill, now them we have to silence!!
And, usually, I think, unless the pro-choice folks are personally attacking someone or not making any sense, they are usually taken seriously–at least seriously enough to be argued with in what is usually a respectful, though convicted, way (and being convicted is not disrespectful).
Not always true. And even if you’re not pro-choice, but still just “not part of the echo chamber,” to continue the metaphor, (ie not religious, not against gay civil unions) you might be lucky enough to be followed to threads where you’re politely commenting on relevant information and, out of nowhere, repeatedly be accused of being dishonest, a fraud, or just a troll.
I don’t think that this site is an echo chamber, but I do think that some people work to make it that way.
“…social networking sites and blogs also played a role in promoting hateful rhetoric”
——————————————
Promoting the Truth about abortion is considered “hateful”??
I’m guessing they want to keep this dark/evil deed under wraps, outside the disinfecting effect of Truth.
Those who consider Truth as “hate”, hate the Truth. And Jesus did say: “I am the Way, the TRUTH, and the Life”
..soo..who do these people really hate?
Ok, I just have to get this comment out of the way:
No woman with a 5 o’clock shadow should be able to advice other women about motherhood.
NOW that that’s out of the way:
Yes, Alexandra, there is some fighting going on here when it comes to dissent, but by and large, we get along, even when we don’t agree, and I’ve been coming here off and on for awhile now and have people I actually like hearing from now and again that I don’t agree with on every single thing…This really isn’t the echo chamber some would like it to be, but I think that just benefits our cause, and discredits everything these paranoid loonies said.
*advise. That’s what I get for trying to type something coherent when I first wake up.
Let’s call this what it is, an effort to stifle the opposition under the guise of “concern” over “hateful” rhetoric.
These folks will have some credibility when they express similar “concern” over rap music, violent TV and movies, and “shock” jocks like Howard Stern.
Oh, yeah, xalisae, I’ve been here for over a year and a half and have people whose comments I seek out, most definitely. I don’t have a problem with disagreements, but I do take issue with unwarranted attacks on a person, rather than debate over a person’s comments.
Oh well.
Angel,
I am sure there are many in the abortion business(and it is a business)that absolutely have had one or more and run from what they have done in an effort to “help women.” They are deceived and as the years roll on you can see the hardness and the bitterness and the anger. The anger is misdirected at those that would dare say what they did was wrong. They know that they are mothers with babies growing inside of them when they walk in, and mothers of babies who died when they walk out. They need our prayers.
Deep down women know what they are doing. I think deep down I knew it was wrong but felt trapped. I perceived a crisis and acted in a very rash way…total emotion and terror. I didn’t give myself any time to sort it out OR find someone to sort it out with.
Hi Alexandra!!
Jill — You had an excellent response. The Left is certainly getting defensive and that is a good sign.
Please continue to provide the truth about Obama’s support of infanticide in Illinois. It’s the kind of actual history that he has tried to avoid his whole life. He was more than “present’ on the Born Alive bill.
lol hey Carla. Don’t worry, it’s not permanent. I am dying of loneliness and boredom; haven’t showered in four days (after one day of sweaty and gross manual labor, to make things nicer) because my shower is still not working. Bird-bathing in water heated on the stove only does so much. Can’t go shopping for a father’s day gift like this…
Well, I mean, I can. And who am I kidding, I probably will. But it will be with my head hung in shame.
I am sorry about the shower…go shopping with your head held high and get Daddy something nice!! You are an incredible daughter!! Plus you can probably shower at your parents house…..BONUS! :)
I miss you when you aren’t here so please don’t be a stranger.

I guess I haven’t been forgiven yet.
I feel a blog post coming on…
Nancy Keenan
lesbian.
Not into daddys that were born male. Not into icky kids and that normal lifestyle thing. God blesses godly women like Jiss stanek that have and accept the bibles. Keenan pretty much has to be the opposite of good in every way she can think of.
Like circumcision. Lesbians don’t have to worry about that. But they do. The say how bad it is primarily because it is commonly brought out in the bible.
Abortion is a part of her agenda.
I guess I haven’t been forgiven yet.
Oh, goodness, Chris, you have nothing to be forgiven for! I’m sorry if I didn’t adequately convey that before. I didn’t agree with your rationalization but I also don’t think you need to apologize to me for anything.
Alexandra, okay.
I think deep down I knew it was wrong but felt trapped. I perceived a crisis and acted in a very rash way…total emotion and terror. I didn’t give myself any time to sort it out OR find someone to sort it out with.

yes, I bet many many women feel this way
It takes a lot of courage to face up to this.
And that’s the tragedy of abortion (among many) because we as a society need to do a lot more to help/support women.
Carla 10:32am
I think that’s called “just being human”. :)
Angel,
Agreed. Pouring our resources and time into Pregnancy Care Centers is a good way to reach out to those who just don’t know what to do.
Mary,
Yes. I am fully human. A work in progress….:)
Carla,
“I think deep down I knew it was wrong but felt trapped.”
Your testimony is so powerful! I’m sure you have swayed MANY women from aborting! God bless you!
Hi Alexandra,
We’ve had so much rain in the midwest this spring it’s unbelievable. Have you ever considered showering in the rain? It’s supposed to be great for your hair. :)
I hope your shower’s fixed soon!
Some people sing in the shower
Gene Kelley is known for ‘singing in the rain’.
So if you shower in the rain, then you gotta do some singing as well.
Rain water is good for shampooing your hair.
Just avoid the ‘acid rain’.

now I can claim to having done this and I must say it was very very therapeutic! Highly recommended! :)
Janet —
I have considered it! While it is actually legal for women to go outside topless in NY State (something I was oddly just discussing the other day), I’d be hesitant to run half-naked out into the middle of my street. Maybe if the shower isn’t fixed by tomorrow I’ll consider it…but I’ll get the bikini out of storage first. (yikes.)
Carla, I ended up going out, unwashed and proud — to Flushing. Briefly considered getting some “real” Chinese food while there but went for my old standby, dduk bok gi instead. I get shy ordering it when I’m alone because they always ask if I’m sure that’s what I want — don’t get questions like that when I’m with Koreans. But oh well; it’s one dish that never comes out right when I make it at home. Hot enough that it can sometimes make me break out in a light sweat, though — perhaps not the best idea, given the shower situation.
Flushing always startles me because I don’t even realize how disoriented I get by the majority of signs being in Chinese writing until I’m on a majority-Korean block and feel suddenly comforted, subconsciously relieved. Not just because the Korean alphabet is so easy; it’s almost like a kind of homesickness. Which makes no sense.
ken —
I’m glad that you’re okay. You will understand if I was concerned when you repeatedly didn’t explain your accusations towards me, after suggesting that *I* would disappear and refuse to respond; I’m relieved to see that you are well.
