So what do you think? Did CNN fairly portray Lila? her work investigating Planned Parenthood? the pro-life issue? pro-life activism?

Good coverage, I thought. But that last line is pathetic, “Lila hopes to be an actress, for now she is an activist” - what an underhanded way to paint her as superficial.
I am sure that Lila didn’t like that summary line.
On one of the articles about this segment on the CNN website, a lot of viewers clung on to that last line. They were using it to discredit Lila’s work. They also were saying that the documentary never really explained the motive/purpose/goal of these journalists. They assumed that they were only motivated by fame. Well, I guess you can’t expect CNN to be totally unbiased….
I am always amazed when there is coverage of pro-lifers they don’t address the children at all. No photos of unborn babies or anything that explains why pro-lifers are motivated to do what we do. You would watch this and assume that Lila just loves the limelight and thats why she is doing all this. Show the babies CNN! Why are you so afraid to do that?
Debi Vandenboom has written a poignant article entitled, “The Blood of the Lamb and the Word of Their Testimony”. It is posted on my site today at http://www.Ixoye.Name.
I’m of the opinion that whenever the MSM deals with abortion, we have to set the bar very low.
That said, I was expecting a total hatchet job on CNN’s part. After watching, I think it certainly could have been a lot more substantive — why not show more undercover footage from PP “counseling” sessions instead of spending so much time showing Lila getting into character and riding in a car? — but it could have been worse.
100% of the women in my house LOVE Lila.
Very nice, I liked that.
Seriously, the report was not about abortion or anything other than their style of journalism, if you can call it that. Don’t lose sight of what the whole thing was about just because you can’t see past your own agenda. I notice they didn’t show her in the editing room where she molds the facts to fit her narrative.
The last segment about James was perfectly telling. This is how they operate and there is nothing respectable about what they do. She cruises all over the country playing the celebrity at rally after rally and gets paid quite well to do so. She puts herself into every one of her videos even though every PP is on the lookout for her she wouldn’t want the fame to go to anyone else.
Biggz,
Well, remember: The abortionists make a pretty good living off of killing pre-born babies.
There’s been doctors who said when they stopped performing abortions they took a significant pay-cut.
I expect the money she makes public speaking probably goes right back into projects to expose the abortion industry.
I’m torn. I love the work that Lila does, and she has done wonders to expose Planned Parenthood. CNN appeared objective and I liked the story. I’m not thrilled that PP now knows how different Lila can look, and how sophisticated the recording equipment is that is used. I also was not pleased with the ending comments, somehow trying to imply that this is being used as a springboard to a career in acting. Regardless, we love Lila, and we loved her appearances in Dubuque last October.
Acting is a noble profession; or at least it CAN be in the hands and hearts of the rightly committed. As an actress, I would welcome a young person such as Lila Rose into the profession. She would bring passion and committment to the stage and screens. I did not give up my citizenship when I received my degree in theatre. I try to bring the best to both my vocation as an actress, my vocation as a Christian single and my vocation as a citizen. I do not appreciate the cracks made about desiring to go into my profession as being somehow demeaning to this young women.
I’m with John, when dealing with certain media, don’t expect much. CNN advertised this segment as “Right On the Edge.” I guess that’s as close to the edge as they are willing to get.
To those who would discredit her work based on her documentary skills, please see the numerous pro-choice sites that site CPC as a “fake clinic” with no video to back up their claims. I’d welcome any pro-choicer to take a real close look at counseling services that seek to inform rather than profit monetarily.
Good job, Jill and Lila. Sorry CNN you fail.
I agree with most of the posters in that the last line discredited a lot of what Lila and her team are trying to do as activists.
I did not think the CNN video was that great or in-depth. But I guess since it was CNN, I shouldn’t be surprised.
At first my husband and I were pleasantly shocked that CNN was doing a good report on this very important subject – exposing PP and their deceptive practices. However, as the report continued it irked us.
They continued the story and it got to the point where they were making the young pro-life activists look slimmy and questionable by the ways they do things.
We were not happy overall though it was still good that they made an attempt to show Lila Rose and her team in a positive light (for a short while at least).
They are still CNN (Clinton News Network – joking)
