Duck Dynasty wife “fretful” over “entrapment” during interview
Dear Friends, please be in prayer for me today.
I am fretful over the interview with HuffPostLive yesterday.
I am pro-choice only when it’s God’s choice. I was so flustered over her [the interviewer’s] questions & just wasn’t aware that she was trying to trap me. Call me naive.
I had an abortion @ 16 & I clearly stated that it was a decision that I’ve regretted all my life. I also stated that I thought God was the only person qualified to take a life because he made the life.
Maybe I will get to minister to people who otherwise would shut me out but I am clearly pro-God & pro-life. I hate entrapment but failed to see it happening.
~ Lisa Robertson, wife of Alan Robertson (both pictured) of Duck Dynasty fame, writing on Facebook of the controversy surrounding an interview in which she responded, “Yes, I would,” when asked whether or not she would consider herself “pro-choice,” as quoted by Saynsumthn’s Blog, January 7
The Huffington Post headline claimed:

Oh well, at least she’s against the death penalty.
Our popular media here does not seek to inform or to inquire, but enforce.
Unfortunately, so much of the media is about creating controversy and character assassination.
An honest reporter, when confronted with a surprising answer during an interview, would ask the subject to explain her answer.
Same thing should have happened with Pope Francis and his off-the-cuff remark concerning a Vatican priest who had repented long ago of a homosexual affair, “Who am I to judge?” Honest media would have invited the Pope to explain – but Agenda media truncated the sound bite to look like Pope Francis was condoning the sin.
A savvy media player knows how to shock a reporter into asking the follow-up question:
Reporter: “Mr. Santorum, you believe that life begins at conception…”
Senator Rick: “No, I don’t.”
Reporter: “WHAT?!!? You don’t?”
Senator Rick: “I don’t believe that life begins at conception. I know that life begins at conception!”…. (followed by something pithy about scientific facts)
The article didn’t make sense and it didn’t add up. I knew something wasn’t quite right. Sorry for her for being misrepresented like that and shame on Huffpost!
Sadly this side of her story won’t be as widely reported.
I think when you make a play on the words “I am Pro-Choice” as she did the media will take full advantage of it. It really is her own fault. Say you are Pro-Life and leave it at that.
I was so flustered over her [the interviewer’s] questions & just wasn’t aware that she was trying to trap me. Call me naive.
Yes, she was just naïve. It wasn’t her fault. She and her husband (Phil and Kay Robertson’s oldest son) are not usually on the Duck Dynasty show. They’re rarely on it. The others all have beards, but he doesn’t, probably because he’s a church pastor.
HuffPost doesn’t exactly have a sterling reputation when it comes to stuff like this. It’s a shame it happened, and I’m sure Lisa Robertson will be much more careful from now on.
