HBO’s “Girls” hopes to mainstream abortion
by Carder
Women’s stories about abortion are slowly, thoughtfully, and carefully coming into the mainstream. And as they do, the word itself – abortion – becomes less stigmatized, more human. This week’s “Girls” was an abrupt and necessary reminder that there is not just one type of abortion experience.
Whether it was too abrupt, casual, or weird is, per every episode of “Girls,” utterly beside the point.

Ali Vitali also wrote, “Gillian Robespierre’s film Obvious Child starring Jenny Slate offered a similarly fresh take.”
So another narcissistic sociopath kills her child and feels no remorse. Yay, feminism!

Bah, the show’s ratings are pretty low, so good for you, baby-haters.

I think “Girls” sounds like an appropriate title for this show, since clearly, they don’t act like grown women.

Oh Lena, Lena, Lena. You’re passionate about “reproductive justice”? Is that why you’re completely silent about the forced abortions in China? Or is it that you’re just the little darling of the abortion industry here in the US and you’ve never met a bad abortion? Well…you’re an admitted incestuous pedophile and the abortion industry does seem to attract those types so I guess you’re in good company.

Just remember Girls is a drama — a fictitious work.
Meanwhile, last night I watched the documentary Life After Abortion. Those women talked about their devastating abortion experiences including the lies they were told.

Everything about Girls is “utterly beside the point”.

Yes, exactly. She admittedly sexually “experimented” with her baby sister, though her doing so at seven years old doesn’t make her a predator, reminiscing about it to a national audience as an adult is supremely creepy. She didn’t even get her sister’s okay to do so, which to me seems to display a lack of regard for her sister’s well-being. And at seven that is one thing, being a teenager and bribing the little girl with treats to have her sit on her lap and give her kisses is not at all normal with that age difference. That’s not peer experimentation, it’s exploitation. She also admitted to other inappropriate behaviors while her sister slept in her bed for years. And she shows no remorse, does not seem to think there is anything wrong with what she did or even anything for a parent to be concerned about. That’s definitely not a normal “playing doctor” thing that children sometimes do, it’s an older minor exploiting a much younger minor and she doesn’t even see it as wrong.
What sickens me is not only the “feminists” supporting her and most likely will support abortion plotlines in “Girls” have been rallying around Dunham, claiming those who are like “whoa, it’s not okay to poke around a one-year-old’s genitals, except if you’re a doctor or a parent cleaning her, and a seven-year-old should be told that” are some kind of prudish, conservative, female sexuality-hating misogynists. I haven’t heard any of them critique the fact that she bribed a child to do intimate things with her, even though DUNHAM HERSELF said that the things she did were reminiscent of an adult man grooming a child for sexual abuse. It just boggles my mind people can support this and claim to be the ones defending women’s rights and sexual abuse victims. What about her FEMALE sister’s right to not be groomed for creepy activities by a much older sibling? What about her sister’s right to not have a personal story like that broadcast to the nation? It’s just disgusting and it really doesn’t surprise me that people who shill for abortion for a living are doing this. If you think human children have no inherent right to live before they are born on the say-so of a woman, it doesn’t seem like it’s much of stretch to think a young child has little right to not be violated by a woman.

Feminists did criticize Lena Dunham once. Not because she’s a professional narcissist and a bad role-model for young women, but because all of the characters on her show are white. So there’s that.
