“Drunk” writer says “The Mindy Project” needs “funny” abortion
The Mindy Project, with its intelligent and funny characters of all shapes, sizes, and genders, is well positioned to tackle the abortion debate and not only make it funny, but prove to so many women — at least 1 in 3 — that it’s okay, normal, and nothing to be ashamed of. If only for the mere fact that all of those things are true, but also because… well, if Mindy Lahiri can have an abortion, maybe so can they.
And maybe it’s going to be okay.
~ Robin Epley (who appears to have a social media obsession with drunkenness) explaining why the show The Mindy Project should include an abortion plot line, Bustle, February 17

Those are some VERY big maybe’s.
Mindy Kaling is an ardent supporter of Planned Parenthood, a close friend to Lena Dunham, and other things that could spoil her virtue and talent.
But mostly, she has a hit show and a career that she wants to continue. Abortion would be a bad choice, as always.
If adding a baby to a show makes it jump the shark, adding a dead baby will be jumping a cliff.
Good luck with that Mindy.
Why would anyone have to convince someone else that having an abortion is a perfectly wonderful decision – *funny*, even?
I mean, if you’re happy and you know it, shout it out, right?
I don’t typically wait with bated breath for society to tell me I’ve made the right decisions for my life. I don’t really care if my lifestyle choices are represented as funny and totally awesome by Hollywood. Actually, Hollywood tends to mock relationships like my one-man, one-woman, three kids, no divorces, no affairs, abstinent until marriage kind of marriage.
Oh, yeah, that crazy, crazy concept called “waiting to have sex.” That has a HUGE stigma attached to it and is regularly mocked as being totally ridiculous. But you won’t find me lobbying to remove the “stigma” of that, because I am totally pleased and comfortable with my decision, and I have no regrets.
But maybe that’s the point.
“well, if Mindy Lahiri can have an abortion, maybe so can they.”
Yeah, women have abortions because everyone is doing it. It is just the latest thing to make me appear smart, funny, hip.
Abortion can’t even be touched by hard core leftists like Lena Dunham. One of her episodes of “Girls” featured a scheduled abortion but lo and behold–the girl never arrived for the abortion and miscarried on her own. How convenient. Can’t have one of the characters actually HAVING the abortion, now can they?
They may lip service abortion all they want but they know full-well it makes society uncomfortable and they know abortion isn’t very likable for all the “demystifying” and celebrating they do of it.
I think it’s for good reason that shows have paid writers and don’t take plot suggestions from anybody who presents one.
