The latest on interstate abortion trafficking legislation
A bill to stop nonparental adults from trafficking minor girls across state lines for abortion has been introduced in both the US Senate and House for a couple years but never passed. Such legislation is currently being blocked from even getting a hearing by Democrats in control.
This is common sense legislation that would protect underage girls from sexual perpetrators. Liberals say they care about rape and incest victims – but in reality only to get abortions.
Last week, Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) held a forum on HR 1063, the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act
In April and again in May, Rep. Franks sent a letter to Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), chairman of the Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties, requesting an official hearing on CIANA.
Both letters going unanswered, Rep. Franks held a public forum July 10 on CIANA. Pro-life members of the Subcommittee gave statements, heard testimony from witnesses, and asked questions in the same fashion they would a regular hearing.
Here is the forum’s introduction by Rep. Franks, who was born with a cleft lip, btw, one reason mothers abort today. See more clips from the forum here
Thanks to such outlets as YouTube and CSPAN, pro-life members of Congress are breaking through liberal/MSM censorship of our message and attempts to help young sexual abuse victims as well as mothers in crisis pregnancies. Pro-lifers applaud these brave lawmakers.

I guess Rep. Jerry Nadler is following on Obama’s footsteps where he also doesn’t want the young girls to be “punished” …
You know, maybe we ought to follow up on Obama’s theme? Maybe we should sentence some convicts to have to raise a child? I wonder if that would be “punishment” enough?
What bewilders me is that we need such a law in the first place. Isn’t it already kidnapping to take a child out-of-state without parental permission?

While that really wasn’t his theme, maybe you should tell us, Doyle.

No, it wouldn’t. They would still be sexually assaulted and raped. They just wouldn’t be able to get an abortion afterward.
Forcing a young girl to go through an unwanted pregnancy so that it becomes obvious she has been raped/molested so that her perpetrators can be caught is simply cruel and backward.
Abortion does not prevent rape.
Sure.Edyt…but with abortion you’re letting the rapist/ molester/ perpetrator go free.
Which is more cruel and backward?
At least give the baby up for adoption.
off topic.
A friend of mine just had her baby last week.
Our sons are in scouts together.
Her little newborn had Thanatophoric Dysplasia Type II and has passed away.
His funeral is tomorrow. His parents and brothers and sister were able to spend some time with him before he passed.
I looked up the condition because I am not an expert in birth defects. The only suggestion was that it would be appropriate to abort at any time during gestation,She did not choose abortion.
My friend is now grieving her loss.

What if I take my friend’s underage son out of state for surgery, would that be okay?
But abortion is different?

Hippie, your girlfriend and her family are in my prayers this evening. ts

Not necessarily. Not having to pay child support does not release the offender from his crime. I’d argue there needs to be more support/services for women (especially young women) for these situations, and more criminal justice done for perpetrators. Like I’ve repeated often, non-violent drug offenders get more prison time than rapists. 15/16 rapists get off free.
We’re sending a big message that drugs are bad but rape is not as bad.
And, like we saw in the other thread, young women (under 14, mostly) are often abused by uncles, brothers, grandfathers, fathers, etc., with her mother’s full knowledge. One might wonder, if others were brave enough to report crimes when it happens rather than silencing the victim, if we might prevent more molestation cases, or at least bring justice to those that happen.
Whether or not someone can get an abortion has nothing to do with instances of rape.

Edyt, Do you really not see how skirting parental notification of abortion laws is related to predators getting away with the rape of these minors? The topic of this thread is about enforcing parental notification laws, and that has a lot to do with holding rapists accountable. Abortion mills have a ZERO record of investigating how these minors got pregnant. They spend millions of dollars to fight against laws that allow parents to get involved in the abortion decisions of their children. MOST parents would find out if their daughter was raped and make every effort to bring the rapist to justice, get the rapist off the street and put behind bars for a long time. Please tell me you understand the concept now…..
RSD, here’s what you should do. Go to RTL rallies and demonstrate with a big sign that says “No exception for rape!” Get your friends to do the same and chant “No exception for rape” over and over again as loudly as you can.
Trent Franks is my friend.
He’s an awesome Christian and comes to our church regularly.

Hippie,
I am praying for your friend and her family.
Too late SoMG…been there, done that…held the sign and bought the t-shirt…
Your turn to go to a pro-abortion rally and shout that sex offenders should go scott-free and the physical evidence mutilated and destroyed…
RSD, sex offenders should be prosecuted under rape laws and child molestation laws.
A bill to stop nonparental adults from trafficking minor girls across state lines
Translation: The law that take a girl who can’t go to her parents and turn her into a girl who can’t go to her parents, her grandmother or her guidance counselor.
Proponents say that they don’t want girls’ abusers or older boyfriends to take them across state lines for abortions, but we already have laws that criminalize these people–statutory rape laws. We don’t need laws criminalizing grandmothers.
Abortion does not cure rape.
DRF,
What is the purpose of this bill? It’s to prevent
these sex offenders from taking the victims for abortion across state lines.
Now, given your logic…why would a grandparent, councelor, etc. want to move the minor to another state and have an abortion w/o informing the parents? Are they trying to hide/ cover-up something?
Has anyone considered the possibility that this might lead to an increase in minor girls attempting to drive themselves? “Borrow” someone’s car and drive obviously without a license? Maybe we should.

…………………….
It does nothing to prevent sexual victimization. It would do nothing to detect sexual abuse.
And Jill. I think you meant cleft palate rather than cleft lip. Being a medical professional and all, one would think that you would understand the weighty distinction between the two.
Maybe someone can explain this to me. I’ve wondered about this a long time. In the past, society’s response to girls having sex earlier in life has been to make the age of consent younger. Why aren’t we doing this now?
Carla, did anyone say abortion cures rape? I haven’t read the whole thread but I think that’s what we philosophy majors call a straw man. Abortion prevents one of the worst consequences of rape.
Abortion kills a child conceived in rape, incest or consensual sex.
Some very good friends of mine have been raped, had an abortion and still struggle with the fact that THEIR child was killed.
I have one friend who was raped and let her child live. “The worst consequence of rape” was named Daniel.
