- One of the Planned Parenthood clinics which is closing in Washington provided RU-486 chemical abortions. Herald writer Sharon Salyer gets how RU-486 abortions work completely wrong:
The Oak Harbor clinic, which operated three days a week, served a little more than 1,000 patients, said Kristen Glundberg-Prossor, a Planned Parenthood spokeswoman.
While surgical abortions were not performed at the site, women could prevent a pregnancy by getting from the clinic RU 486, the so-called abortion pill.
- In Australia, a 42-year-old woman died after undergoing an abortion at the same abortion clinic where anesthesiologist James Peters infected dozens of women with hepatitis C. The clinic is run by Marie Stopes International.
- A UK woman spent the last 3 months of her pregnancy in a tilted hospital bed to reduce the risk of premature delivery:
Donna Kelly, 29, was told five months into her pregnancy that her baby was just an inch from the top of her cervix and at risk of “falling out.”
So doctors made her lie in a hospital bed tilted at 45 degrees to reduce the pressure.
- State Representative Margo Davidson (pictured left), one of the Pennsylvania legislators who voted in favor of new abortion clinic regulations, was related to Semika Shaw, one of abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s victims:
“I honor her memory by voting for this bill,” Davidson told her colleagues Wednesday after the controversial measure was approved. “So women will no longer walk into a licensed health-care facility and be butchered as she was.” …
Shaw’s death, which led to a $900,000 insurance settlement, was central to the grand jury’s conclusion that state officials had failed to inspect the clinic for two decades and repeatedly ignored complaints of possible criminal activity there.
Davidson, 49, who grew up in same Mantua neighborhood where Shaw lived and the Gosnell clinic was located, said her young cousin probably sought an abortion because she had two young children and realized that as a single woman, she could not support a third. The grand jury report said Shaw had four previous abortions.
Little wonder the clinic wasn’t inspected in those days, Davidson reasoned. “The regulations regarding inspection were only policy,” the legislator said. “It was not mandated by the law.”

Good for her!
Here’s a sad story also out of Philadelphia:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/12/21/baby-found-abandoned-in-pile-trash-in-philadelphia/
Can you imagine if this man hadn’t found that precious baby? She would have been thrown out with the trash. At my agency people are calling asking about her welfare and also if she is available for adoption. She is either a light-skinned AA or Latina — so much for “no one wants” babies of color.
I don’t know why women do this, when there’s so many places they can leave the baby — a hospital, church, fire station, or even with ME!
What a sad story. I also am disgusted by the “no one wants babies of color” excuse too. I hope the baby is placed in a loving home and that her mom gets help.

We need a family allowance so no one will fear not being able to support another baby. We also need to revive marriage. If Semika Shaw had been married, she might have felt more confidence as someone would share the child care responsibilities with her.
The troll, CC, is in top form. CC—get a life!
Meanwhile, CC, your friend Dr. Gosnell and his associates are either in prison already or are soon to be facing prison terms. Sadly, the prison terms will not bring back the babies they butchered.
Yuck it up CC. Someday they may very well reject personhood for you too. If it can happen to innocent babies it can happen to bitter old ladies like you. And when it does you’ll hope us pro-lifers are still here willing to fight for your life and for all human life.
Is much of the abortion rate linked to the decline of marriage?
Would the woman mentioned have been less likely to seek abortion had she been in a stable and secure marriage?
Denise Noe, in terms of the benefits of marriage, volumes of years of research back up stable, functional marriage as the safest, healthiest and most secure place for men, women and especially children. Married people are happier (less stress, less depression, alcoholism, drug abuse, suicide, mental illness), healthier (live longer, less chronic disease, cancer, heart disease, less smoking, less accidents, more likely to obtain healthcare, follow treatment plans, less prematurity, less infant death, much less domestic violence and child abuse) and wealthier (less poverty, earn more, save more, work harder, more promotions, better work record, more upwardly mobile). Children of stable 2 parent biological married parents more likely to be healthier, wealthier and happier; graduate HS or college, avoid criminal behavior, incarceration and teen pregnancy. Fewer married women obtain abortions because they have fewer reasons to do so but their are married women who have bought the “this is your right to choose” lie and will abort. May God help them and their husbands’ if he pressures them to abort. I have a very dear friend who many years ago was married a man who kicked her out because she would not abort their son. He was the only child she would ever have and she is forever grateful she did not take the life of her only child and miss the chance to have her 2 beautiful grandchildren.
