- In the Weekly Standard, Meghan Clyne discusses the “War on Women” rhetoric:
In the meantime, a perceptive observer may notice a curious thing about this “war on women.” It is based entirely on one set of policies: those pertaining to women’s reproductive systems. By the Democrats’ logic, to oppose abortion on demand and taxpayer-funded contraception is to be “anti-woman.” Womanhood is thus defined by the desire for unrestricted abortion and free birth control; women themselves are reducible to ovaries. It was once permissible in American politics to view women as incapable of concerns beyond childbearing — but not in this century. And in addition to insulting women’s intelligence, this approach may well backfire. American women are active, thoughtful citizens; their political concerns are focused on the future of their nation, not the cheapest and easiest way to shut down their reproductive tracts.
- Here’s another retired abortionist who isn’t making any sense. New Jersey’s The Record has an article in which retired abortion Robert Livingston (pictured left) speaks up about his history of performing illegal abortions, then ridiculously claims he is uncomfortable talking about abortion (as he is giving an interview to a paper about abortion and his history as an abortionist) because of the stigma and ominous environment. The Akin controversy magically left him bursting to talk.
- In Great Britain, a man has been arrested for killing his former girlfriend after he found out she had an abortion and was seeing another man:
It was alleged that the day before her death, Mr Lowe – who used Facebook under the name Ian ‘Boom Boom’ Lowe – wrote on the social networking site: “Need a weapon out of the armoury to shoot the bitch.”Then, on the day of her killing, the jury was told that he posted another message saying: “Just to let everybody know, Leanne has aborted the baby.
She did not tell me or even give me a say in the matter.”

That story from Great Britain is sad. The father is partly to blame for the abortion. He was beating and harassing the pregnant mother and she aborted. It sounds like she originally wanted the baby but then thought twice after his assaults. Maybe she didn’t want to be tied to this crazy man for the rest of her life. So really, Mr. Lowe is also culpable in the death of his child. If he was a real man who treated his pregnant girlfriend kindly and gently and if he had been there emotionally to protect this woman and his growing child maybe she would not have snapped and had an abortion.
I really think when women feel safe and loved abortion never enters their minds.
The doc who did illegal abortions in the 1960s and got into it because he saw a young woman die after Lysol was injected into her womb reminded me of another story I read about. Margot Kidder had terrible symptoms after an illegal abortion. She learned that the illegal abortionist had injected Lysol into her womb.
Women live longer than men. They are less likely to be injured or killed at work. Women are much less likely to be imprisoned than men. They are less likely to be homeless.
Society isn’t a patriarchy. It is bi-sexist with both patriarchal and matriarchal elements.
Sydney, I totally agree. That whole situation is so sad. :( It just broke my heart reading about it.
And of course, Re: the war on women article, AMEN. I hate hearing about this ridiculousness. Because really, I’m not just my reproductive organ – how demeaning. I’m a functioning member of society – because I’m a human, not because I’m a woman. And besides, women have it better than they ever have. Exactly which rights of mine are being trampled on?
Oh, what’s that? The right to murder my unborn baby? Yeah, what about his/her rights? Hm, thanks, I’ll pass on that one. If having to legally respect the right to life of my innocent unborn baby is their definition of ‘misogyny,’ then bring it on. Because frankly no superficial “right” of mine that is supposedly being trampled on (getting bc? Psh. NO one is blocking the pharmacy doors, thank you very much) is worth the death of millions of unborn innocents. It’s just not worth it.
And quite frankly, it’s disgusting. Thanks, Democrats, but I’m more than my ability to create children. I know, how racist and misogynistic of me. Gasp! How radical! How unsavory!
