May 28: Pro-lifers to hijack pro-choice Twitter event promoting abortion as healthcare
UPDATE 5/28 3:28p: Ha! Aljazeera is reporting the story, “Anti-abortion activists ‘hijack’ #WomensHealth.” Great job, pro-lifers! Still plenty of time to join in!
5/27 9:15p: Pro-life alert: Tomorrow, May 28, is the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, established in 1987 “as a means to speak out on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.”
To that end international abortion pushers are planning to “occupy social media” tomorrow to promote abortion as necessary healthcare worldwide.
The event takes place from 9a to 9p, whatever one’s local time.
Life Blast Prolife Social Media Project is planning a “Twitterstorm Takeover [to] tell them: Abortion is NOT Healthcare!” during those same hours. Join the group on Facebook.
Use their hashtags #May28 and #WomensHealth. The other side is asking its supporters to tweet every two hours, not a tall order. We can do that as well. Let’s rebut with messaging that explains how abortion hurts and even kills women.
I’m an old-fogey who doesn’t do anything on “social media,” so I’ll just be a by-stander.
This sort of mischief is fun. I don’t know if it serves any purpose, except to remind the pro-bort activists that there are a whole lot of us and not many of them.
Our real mission is to keep conversation about life and abortion in front of the public. So many people do not know the facts. Abortion is neither “safe” nor “rare,” and the abortion industry is not interested in staying within the boundaries of “legal.”
Meanwhile: I’m taking bets. Obama has not commented on the kidnapped Christian girls in Nigeria being sold as sex slaves, and he has not commented on Meriam Ibrahim’s death sentence in Sudan for the crime of being Christian.
But I bet that Obama will personally participate in this pro-bort tweetfest tomorrow.

I’m on it! I read about it last night on a pro-life Facebook page & have lined up various positive, pro-life messages to automatically post on my mobile Twitter app every hour from, starting at 8 am until mid afternoon :)

Del, you may not be involved in social media, but you are great at quips! Am plagiarizing: “Abortion is neither ‘safe’ nor ‘rare,’ and the abortion industry is not interested in staying within the boundaries of ‘legal’” for Twitter! So I’m osmosing you into social media… :)
Ladybug – good for you. I love having the ability to schedule tweets.

Man, all those pro-life tweets look good! It looks like they have a dozen choicers at best tweeting over and over. It’s amazing how little they have to say, not very creative compared to pro-lifers. They are already complaining about us hijacking “their” hashtag. Ha!

Thanks, Jill! [/blushing]
If I were tweeting, my next quip would be: “Everyone knows a woman who has been hurt by abortion.”
Over at the tweet-fest, pro-life sentiments outnumber the pro-bort posts by about 4-to-1.
This little skirmish will not change the world. We still have to convert our civilization to a culture of life. However, we have put the organized pro-bort activists on notice: They do control the battlefield of social media.
It makes sense that this is so. Overwhelmingly, Pro-lifers are very young and tech savvy. Pro-borts are mostly old farts (like me) who can barely get their computers to working.
