Pro-life news brief 8-5-14

- Ad Week asked 6 women in advertising to rebrand “pro-choice.” The results are… well… ummm… see for yourself. If this is the best they can come up with then maybe abortion advocates should stick with “pro-choice”:
Simply evolving the language and sentiment from pro-choice to something like pro-me would acknowledge that reproductive rights are a personal decision, one of many, that young women actively participate in every day. - Toledo’s last abortion clinic, whose licensed is scheduled to be revoked in a week, is claiming they’ll become a “women’s clinic” which doesn’t perform abortions if their surgery license is taken away:
Capital Care’s owner Terrie Hubbard said her attorney will file a petition with the court next week asking that the clinic be allowed to continue offering abortion services while appealing the state order.Even if the stay is not granted, however, Ms. Hubbard said she plans to keep Capital Care open as a women’s clinic. The clinic would offer gynecological services as well as abortion counseling, Ms. Hubbard said.
- In Florida, a woman has been arrested months after leaving her newborn child under a sink. She claims she hid her pregnancy because she was forced to have an abortion previously:
A police document shows Breanna LaSean Ross was 18 years old when she gave birth in January. She told police she hid her pregnancy because previously, her mother and the mother of her baby’s father forced her into having an abortion. She thought they would make her do the same with this pregnancy.Thankfully, the baby girl was found alive.
This odd decision to drop “pro-choice” and invent new language continues to fascinate me.
I have a strange feeling that the only ones who care are the abortion industry and the pro-life activists.
I suspect that our society — our women — are not influenced by their propaganda effort, no matter what phrase they invent. We have all seen ultrasounds. We have seen how the abortion clinics refuse to maintain acceptable health standards. We all know a woman who has been hurt by her abortion. We have all seen single mothers succeed in careers and find loving men to marry.
The abortion industry needs to earn women’s trust again. It is not enough to insist that “women need abortion.” Women do not believe this anymore.

The story of the young mother in Florida breaks my heart.
She was traumatized by the forced abortion of her first child. She tried to save her second child by hiding her. But the hiding was dangerous, and now the young mother may be charged with child neglect for her effort to save the child’s life.
Anyone want to bet that pro-life lawyers will jump to aid her?
Anyone expect the “pro-woman” abortion advocates will do less than nothing to help her?

Ummm, why would she be hiding a born infant under a sink to prevent a forced abortion?
That makes no sense and is likely garbage coughed up by her defense attorney. There is no possible way to abort a born infant, only to abandon and neglect them.
if I was facing criminal charges, I would blame anybody and everybody to avoid jail.
I doubt no one noticed she was 9 months pregnant, laboring and had been through delivery of a healthy infant.
Where is the evidence of this “forced” abortion or even previous abortion?
Sounds like another prom/dumpster baby to me.
Why didn’t she go to the hospital when sbe went into labor, tell the medical professionals who are mandatory reporters she feared for her and the baby’s safety and get social services involved.
Her excuse makes a touching defense but sounds like utter garbage for a woman who had numerous resources available should she want to go to term and raise her child. But yeah, she is the victim in the anti choice world.

Young women are not told about all of the resources available to help them. They are merely scared.
The abortion industry relies on this fear and ignorance…. with the help of misogynists who do not trust women because they are young, ignorant, and afraid.

Sorry Del, but it is hogwash that a young woman doesn’t know to go to the hospital when in labor. Baby Moses law are advertised everywhere. Hiding the pregnancy I can see to prevent a forced abortion. Sticking the baby under the sink does nothing more than hide the birth, just like Prom Mom and the woman who tossed her child in the dumpster. I will say, though, that this girl may have some untreated illness and and abusive home. I hope she gets help.

there are some surprisingly good comments on that ‘rebranding’ absurdity. Typically I see those censored or down-voted into oblivion.
If you have any experience, either academically or first-hand, with abused humans (children, young adults, or adults) then the girl hiding the pregnancy and then continuing to hide the child is perfectly, sadly, understandable and expected. It’s what abused people do. If she is a victim of a forced abortion in her mind she hides the pregnancy so she don’t force her to abort and then, having had the child, is terrified of what they will do if they find it. After all, forced abortion is just as illegal-technically-as murdering a newborn, they didn’t balk at the one when presented with a previous child, why would they balk at the other when presented with a second child? I also agree, however, that it would make a good talking point for a contrived defense, very believable yet almost impossible to prove or disprove from a legalities-of-the-court viewpoint. Either way, very sad, glad the second baby survived.
