Raped, impregnated 13-year-old keeps baby

Anna's Pics Nov. 5 1560

I blogged last week about a Ms. Magazine article lamenting how difficult it is for “young women of color” to get abortions. The author used the story of her 14-yr-old cousin to demonstrate the trouble an adolescent has getting a clandestine abortion. Never once did Ms. or the author worry about how the girl got pregnant.

I used Planned Parenthood’s own statistics to show the younger the pregnant mother, the more likely it is  she is a victim of rape or incest. Bottom line: Abortion covers up child rape.

I received an amazing email from Anna, who gave me permission to post her story and her name. It is Anna when she was 13 years old in the photo above, with her newborn daughter Josey. Here is their powerful story:

When I was little I was molested for eight years by my stepfather.  He was an accomplished liar and fooled everyone, even my mom.  No one knew.  I was afraid to tell anyone; when you grow up hearing that bad things will happen if anyone finds out, you believe it.

I got pregnant the first time when I was 12.  I was scared and told him.  He hit me and then loaded me up on drugs, telling my mom that I had been injured while out playing with some other kids.  He killed my baby.  Of all the things that happened to me, this is what haunts me the most.  I will never know who my child might have become.  My only hope is in the promise I will get to see him or her in heaven when I get there, and Jesus will take care of my baby until then.

When I was 13, I became pregnant again.  This time I did not say anything to him.  My mom noticed that my body was changing, even though I was only about two months along at the time, and asked me about it.  I remember that morning clearly.  It was a Saturday, and my mom had the day off from work, but my stepfather did not.  She had borrowed one of those kits to put fake nails on from my aunt, and was doing my nails.  I finally got the courage and told her everything. She immediately packed up my brother, sister, and I and took us to our Aunt’s house.  From there she called the police.

They arrested him and took us to the hospital for some tests, and then we had to go in for questioning ourselves.  In the end, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for molesting not only me but my sister.  If he had not killed my first baby, my sister and I would have been free an entire year earlier.  This is how I know that abortion protects pedophiles.

I was told by therapists, friends, teachers, family, and even strangers, that it would probably be best if I had an abortion; but I couldn’t.  Earlier that year, I had learned in my science class that a child’s DNA comes from both parents, and that meant that this child was also half mine.  I also figured that since I was the one who would carry her in MY body for the next several months, that made her mine, not his.  I knew from my first pregnancy that he didn’t want me to have the baby.  I knew that if I had an abortion, I would be doing just what he wanted, and he would win again.  He would not have only killed all of my innocence, he would have killed my daughter.

It might have been easier to choose an abortion.  There are many things that I would not have had to go through if I had.  It was harder than I have words to describe.  But there are some things in life that are worth fighting for, and she was one of them.

I’m not a very big person, 5′ 0″ and 95 lbs.  I wasn’t big then either.  So, due to my size and my age, I was deemed a high risk pregnancy.  I had my first ultrasound at around 3 months, where I got to see her heart beat, and I fell in love.  That was when I decided that I couldn’t give her up for adoption either.

The next several months were hard.  The looks and comments that I received from people everywhere were difficult to deal with, to say the least.  I lost all but two of my friends.    But knowing that I would have that little girl soon kept me going.  I decided to name her Josey Ann, after a character in a book I had read.

On Friday, July 28, 1995, roughly six weeks before my due date, I went into labor.  I was flown from Vernal, Utah, to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.  They gave me some drugs to slow down the labor (my water had not broken yet), and steroids to help develop my daughter a little faster so she would have a better chance of surviving.  She was born the following Monday, July 31.  She weighed 4 lb. 2 oz., and was 18″ long.

Because she was so premature and needed much medical help, they kept her in the NICU.  They kept her there until the end of August.  Words cannot express the joy I felt when we got to bring her home the day before I started the 7th grade.

I still had nightmares, but I would wake up and have that little smiling face to greet me.  When I would get nasty looks and comments, I would go home and hear her giggle.  She truly was a light in one of the darkest times of my life.  I shudder to think of what that time would have been like had I aborted her.

My mom was amazing, she watched my daughter so that I could finish school.  I did graduate and was my class historian.  I met a wonderful man who loves both me and my daughter, and we now have four children.

At the time I had Josey,  I believed in God, but I didn’t like Him very much.  I couldn’t understand why a loving God would allow me to go through all that I did.  It wasn’t until I was 26 that I truly found a relationship with Jesus Christ.  A wonderful neighbor of ours showed me how much Jesus loves me.  Because He loves us, He gave us free will.  My stepfather abused that gift when he abused me.  But like Romans 8:28 says, God used something horrible to bring me one of the greatest blessings in my life.  Knowing her now, I would go back and do it all again.

Josey is 17 now, and is a beautiful young woman, inside and out.  She loves writing, drawing and music.  She is learning to play the guitar and skateboard.  She volunteers in the nursery at our church and helps the worship team at one of our local ministries.  She plans on going to college after she graduates to study computer animation.

She is one of the many reasons why I know that abortion is wrong.  She is a person, and has been since she was conceived.  Had I aborted her, this world would have lost an amazing person.  My heart breaks for each child that is killed before he or she has a chance to bring someone the same joy that my daughter has brought me.

Seeing her does not remind me of the horror of my childhood, she reminds me of God’s love, and how He can bring beauty from the ashes.  To anyone who is where I was, please hold on.  You can make it, and your child will bring you more joy than you can imagine.  It will be hard, but it is worth it.

  • A member of 40 Days for Life was praying outside a Planned Parenthood in Austin, Texas, when someone in a car threw a flaming object at her:

Police arrested a driver Monday night who they say threw a flaming object from a car near the Planned Parenthood clinic on East Ben White Boulevard near South Congress. Austin police received the call shortly after 6 p.m., and members of the bomb squad responded. No one was injured and nothing was damaged, police said.

  • A man in Pennsylvania was arrested for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and discussing his plan to take her for an abortion:

According to court papers, the child’s mother discovered the abuse when her daughter had a positive pregnancy test.

Shenandoah police say a social worker from Massachusetts reported a man using the name “Carlos” from Shenandoah was looking to get an abortion for his 12-year-old girlfriend.

  • A Chicago teenager charged with killing her mother in Bali is claiming her mother forced her to have two abortions and was attempting to force her to have a third:

He said [Sheila] von Wiese-Mack had “forced” her daughter, Heather Mack [pictured far left], to have two earlier abortions and was seeking legal control so that she could compel a third procedure to terminate the teen’s latest pregnancy.

Mack, 19, gave birth this week to a girl in an Indonesian hospital. She and her boyfriend, Tommy Schaefer [pictured left], 21, of Oak Park, are charged with murder in her mother’s August death. They could face a firing squad if convicted.

  • The New Hampshire Union Leader rips into Senator Jeanne Shaheen for her opposition to the Justice for Victims of Sex Trafficking Act:

Sex trafficking is a crime that almost exclusively victimizes women and girls. According to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center, 90 percent of sex trafficking victims in the United States last year were female.

Shaheen is refusing to help these abuse victims until Republicans agree to make taxpayers finance abortions. What a loathsome, cowardly, cynical thing to do.

  • Pro-Life Action League is promoting the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children tomorrow, Sept. 13:

Of the 95 sites where memorial services will be held, 42 are actual gravesites of aborted children whose bodies were recovered from dumpsters and other improper resting places by pro-life activists.

You can find the location of a memorial service near you by visiting the list of sites.

  • At The Catholic View for Women, Janet Morana thinks Wendy Davis‘ abortion revelation showed complications of post abortion grieving and the need for restoration and healing.

The pro-abortion activity and public confession of her abortion also serve as a powerful outlet for the complicated grief, guilt and anger that needs to be continually repressed… but struggles to find expression. Anti-abortion activists and public political activity that highlights our nation’s contentious struggle with this issue, become a convenient target for anger and rage at one’s spouse, self, God and others involved in the abortion decision.

Perhaps we can revisit the abortion filibuster of June 2013 and see in this very public action on behalf of abortion rights as being closely connected to her incomplete abortion healing. At great personal sacrifice she labors for hours on end, without food and water… to fight what she sees as draconian abortion restrictions. I would suggest that what was driving this display may be closely related to the abortion disrupting her body’s ability to go through the natural labor process… which she displaces onto a dramatic, lengthy and painful filibuster process.

cindy--close-surrogate

  • Pro Life 365 supports the Catholic Church in opposing IVF. Writing, “Let us consider just how quickly using this technology can, and already has spun out of control,” the author cites the real life case of Cindy Close (pictured left) to show he is not exaggerating.

Close was impregnated via IVF, with no biological connection to the twins she delivered.  She thought she was going to raise them with the sperm donor, Marvin McMurrey, in a platonic relationship, but the couple ended up in court when he said he wanted sole custody to raise the children with his gay lover.

  • Big Blue Wave remembers a fascinating court case in Tennessee 25 years ago that heard expert witness testimony from Dr.  Jerome Lejeune of France. The judge became the first in U.S. history to affirm that “life begins at conception based on that testimony.”
  • Pro Life in TN picks up the story on this groundbreaking case of a divorcing couple fighting over custody of frozen “pre-embryos.”  The fight went all the way to the Tennessee Supreme Court, which disregarded that expert testimony and granted custody to the husband, who wanted the embryos destroyed. The legal opinion in that finding inspired  the Tennessee ACLU and Planned Parenthood to sue the state to remove abortion statutes already in place.

What started with this historic ruling will be resolved this November when the people will vote on  a constitutional amendment that would allow the General Assembly to once again place regulations around abortion. This battle is gaining national attention.

Jason_Jones-240x181

  • Jason Jones (pictured right) at Catholic Vote has a strong, no holds barred message for self-identified Catholics and other Christians who embrace the pro-choice viewpoint or trivialize abortion by putting it on the same plane as other social/economic issues:

As the father of a girl who was aborted against my will - and her mother’s will - one of millions of abortion’s unmentioned victims, I say: “No way.” I demand that my fellow Catholics who claim to be pro-life stop trivializing the legal execution of my preborn daughter by equating it with far-flung political issues that well-meaning people are free to argue about.

There are many answers to addressing the plague of poverty, many of which don’t even involve the government. There is one answer to legalized mass murder, and it does involve the government. Just as civil rights could only be enforced by government action, so abortion can only be stopped when doctors who try to perform them end up in chain gangs. Anyone who tells you different really doesn’t care about ending abortion. And it’s time that we called them out on it.

anti-date-rape-nail-polish-will-not-work (1)

  • Secular Pro Life features an article by pro-life feminist Caitlin Fikes that compares the anti-rape nail polish remedy to the issue of abortion:

However, many feminists and anti-rape activists have raised some very valid criticisms of the nail polish, its implications, and the kind of attention it’s getting. While the nail polish may indeed prevent some women from getting raped (and obviously, every rape avoided is a Good Thing), examining this invention in the context of rape culture still raises important concerns.

For example, every precaution that places the onus on women to employ an ever-growing anti-rape checklist raises the possibility of victim-blaming: should this product become widespread, whenever a woman is drugged and raped there will invariably be voices saying, “This could have been avoided if only she was wearing her anti-roofie nail polish. How irresponsible.”

What does this have to do with abortion, you ask? You may be surprised to find that there are many parallels between the criticisms feminists levy against this nail polish and the criticisms pro-life feminists raise about the prevalence of abortion.

AZ Sheriff’s Office: Planned Parenthood didn’t report rape by serial sex offender

kost3n-3-webFrom modvive.com, May 2:

An 18-year old Arizona high school student has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting at least 10 and as many as 18 high schools girls….

Making this case even more disturbing is the allegation that a counselor at Planned Parenthood Arizona may have assisted accused serial rapist, Tyler Kost [pictured right], in covering up the actions of a sexual predator over the course of several years.

One reported case has a 15-year-old girl claiming to have been raped and impregnated by Kost, after attending a homecoming dance….

According to a detectives report, after the assault the girl alongside her mother went for care at the facility.

“The counselor intentionally miscoded the assault as a consensual encounter. The counselor told them that they did not want the hassle of having to report the assault to law enforcement as they were a mandatory reporter,” the sheriff’s office statement says.

Planned Parenthood responded to the allegations with the following statement:

“While we provide confidential care to all of our patients, we have strict policies in place that require all staff to report any illegal activity they learn about, including sexual assault. All patients are asked at least two separate times whether they consented to sexual activity; if a patient says she was sexually assaulted or displays signs of assault, our staff is required to report it immediately to law enforcement officials. We have zero tolerance for staff failing to meet our standards and policies.”…

Two of the rape victims were so severely traumatized that they felt compelled to leave the state, the sheriff said. One of the two victims even required hospitalization after she attempted to take her own life.

In 2009, a Live Action sting caught employees at three separate Planned Parenthood Arizona facilities showing a willingness to cover up underage rape. At that time PPAZ said it was “conducting an internal review.” It obviously cleared itself.

Planned Parenthood Arizona also sued the state (case pending) so as to continue giving the abortion drug RU-486 against FDA guidelines. CEO Bryan Howard said they had to do this to make ends meet.

Coincidentally, the Sex Ed Committee at Tempe Union High School District, which is in the same vicinity as the high school where the serial rapist attended, is to vote tomorrow night on whether to use Planned Parenthood’s sex ed program, which has been a hot topic in the community for months. The timing is not good.

This is a test of Planned Parenthood Arizona’s new roving iPad business model, since it has had to stop abortions at so many of its 13 clinics. Abortions are now only committed at four mills.

The organization is still doing well financially. Although revenue was down $3 million from the year before, Planned Parenthood Arizona still made $8.7 mil in in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012, according to its 990. Howard’s salary totalled $202,845.

  • In Arkansas, a man has been charged with domestic battery and negligent homicide for running over his pregnant girlfriend with a car. The woman, who was around 20 weeks pregnant, survived but the child did not.
  • A woman in Great Britain with severe mental health problems is asking for permission to have an abortion at 23 weeks:

The 37-year-old, who suffers from bipolar and paranoid delusions, had planned the pregnancy with her husband and previously seemed happy to be expecting a child. But last month, the woman, who is 23 weeks pregnant, became convinced that she wanted a termination. She wants to have a medical abortion, rather than surgery, which means a decision needs to be made “within a matter of days”….

Dr T said he believed she had “the ability to understand the court proceedings,” but that she was not capable of making an informed decision about her unborn child. “Because of her persecutory delusions she refuses to take on information which she should be taking on to perform a balanced decision.”

  • Some abortion advocates in Congress are targeting crisis pregnancy centers, claiming they want to ensure that pregnant women aren’t deceived:

No one should ever be subjected to misleading information when they are seeking health care, especially during pregnancy,” [NJ Sen. Robert] Menendez (pictured left) said. “We have worked too hard to expand the availability of women’s health care services to have any confusion created by those who would deliberately deceive a woman to suit their own purposes.”

Too bad Menendez doesn’t feel the same way when it comes to abortion clinics deceiving women.

  • In Washington State, a man who raped and impregnated a preteen girl and took her to Planned Parenthood for an abortion has been sentenced to 6 years in jail and then he’ll have to leave the country:

Luis Gonzalez-Jose, 31, raped the girl at a home in rural Whatcom County while her mother was in the shower, according to charging documents filed in Whatcom County Superior Court.

He brought the girl to a Planned Parenthood clinic in August 2012. She told staff members that her 14-year-old boyfriend impregnated her, but she couldn’t give the boy’s name or address. Six weeks after the abortion, the girl told a detective how she had really become pregnant. Gonzalez-Jose had insisted “it would be best for her” to not have the baby, according to the documents.

Gonzalez-Jose pleaded guilty to second-degree rape of a child in April. The girl’s family refused to cooperate with prosecutors, according to a Department of Corrections report.

A previous article from the Bellingham Herald indicates Planned Parenthood alerted Child Protective Services.

Video: Abortionist envisions gang rape and pregnancy of pro-life little girl

2013-01-22_1114Tony at BloodWorker.com has just released this video, taken on October 16, 2012, at the Women’s Pavilion abortion clinic in South Bend, Indiana.

It features aged abortionist Ulrich G. Klopfer, who decided to engage in a debate with pro-life sidewalk counselor Ellen and her 12-yr-old daughter. Klopfer sadistically envisions a theoretical  gang-rape of the girl:

And while your little girl gets raped by 10 guys, gets pregnant with twins, you’re gonna have your grandchildren. Shut up!

I’m not sure whether Klopfer was calling Ellen a hypocrite, implying that in the unthinkable event her daughter was gang-raped, and then impregnated, she’d come knocking; or whether he was wishing a gang rape and pregnancy on the girl. Either way, sick. Who thinks like this?

Just before that verbal altercation a racist abortion worker told Ellen if her daughter “got pregnant by a black dude you would put your picket sign down, bring her in here, get an abortion, go back out there.”

This was reminiscent of the time abortionist Ashutosh Ron Virmani yelled at pro-lifers to “adopt those ugly black babies.” Again, who thinks like this?

  • Michael J. Fox is finally curbing his embryonic stem cell enthusiasm while lamely trying to cover his rear. He says:

It’s not so much that [stem cell research has] diminished in its prospects for breakthroughs as much as it’s the other avenues of research have grown and multiplied and become as much or more promising. So, an answer may come from stem cell research but it’s more than likely to come from another area.

During the interview, Fox Foundation co-founder Deborah Brooks then mentions some of the problems with putting embryonic stem cells into the brains of people with Parkinson’s. You know, the same problems pro-life people have been noting for years and the same problems that Dr. Oz told Fox about on Oprah around 3 years ago.

  • In New York state, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino (pictured left) has vetoed an abortion buffer zone law:

Calling it unconstitutional and “harmful,” Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino on Friday vetoed legislation that would have prohibited anti-abortion protesters from blocking patients and workers access at health clinics.

  • Melinda Henneberger wonders why all the “choice” advocates have been so quiet on Chen Guangcheng:

In the United States, much of the support for Chen has come from those who oppose abortion. But where are the abortion rights supporters? There is so much talk about the search for common ground on the abortion issue — sincere talk, I believe. But if the brutal oppression of women robbed of any semblance of “choice” isn’t something we can all agree on, I don’t know what would be.

  • A Texas man has been sentenced to 40 years in jail for sexually abusing his daughter over a period of years:

The assaults resulted in a child, a miscarriage and two abortions, Assistant District Attorney Jeff Swain said.

The 48-year-old man pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault. He will have to serve half of his sentence before being eligible for parole, Swain said.

The woman “is certainly happy with the result,” Swain said, adding that it is “a deserving sentence.”

The daughter, who is in her mid- to late 20s, came forward last July.

“She did not want the same thing to happen to other girls,” Swain said.
